The Department for Business, Innovation and Skills announce the publication of revised Regulations under the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) legislation.
It requires manufacturers and suppliers of such devices to comply with regulations, as well as some business users.

Intended to enhance the current system in the UK for the collection and treatment of obsolete devices, the new rules come into force from 1 January 2010.

Key changes include an open-ended approval process, measures to speed up the evidence process and revisions to data reporting requirements.
