New Intel Atom based Low Power IP65 / IP54 Touch screen System From Aplex meets all requirements
The requirement for localised human interface computing and, at the same time satisfying the application demand for IP65 rated equipment no longer results in a compromise due to the launch of the fully IP65 rated APC-3563 panel pc from Aplex Technology UK.
Historically IP rating has won the day, at the expense of processor performance and this has ultimately compromised a multitude of food processing, automotive, marine, chemical and medical applications.
The APC-3563 however, is a truly ruggedized 15 touchscreen panel PC, powered by the low power Intel Atom N270 1.6GHz CPU supported with up to 2GB DDR Ram and equipped with LAN, two USB 2.0 Ports, one PS/2 Port and one RS232 port.
The 11 to 28V DC supply and all connections are IP65 rated and are located at the rear of the brushed stainless steel enclosure. This means that if necessary, the entire unit, including the 350cd/m2 1024 x 768 touch display, can even be hosed down!
An internal 2.5 HDD provides the storage mechanism for either a desktop O/S (i.e. XP Pro), a truly embedded O/S such as XP Embedded) or indeed any other desired x86 operating system which can be supplied pre installed by Datasound Laboratories.
This fanless Panel PC has a standard operating temperature range of 0°C to +45°C Options include IP54 rating should an internal PCI slot be required for additional application specific I/O and the manufacturers are offering a free custom image creation for new projects. The APC-3563 also has a 2 year RTB warranty.
