Electrolube Develop an Innovative LED Product for the European Market

SC3001 is a silicone resin, developed specifically to meet the needs of the LED industry. Currently only available in Australia and China, the product will be officially launched to the rest of the world at Productronica, along with the ‘2000’ silicone resin range which includes SC2001, a general potting and encapsulating compound, SC2001FD a fast cure compound and SC2003 a thixotropic compound.

SC3001 was launched in Australia and China last year, where it has grown to be one of our most successful silicone resin products. Because of this we felt the time was right to make the product available globally. Productronica will give us the opportunity to officially launch the new silicone range and meet with industry leaders who are looking for new and innovative products.”

SC3001 is a two-part encapsulation compound that has been designed to be optically clear and flexible, making it ideal for the LED industry where optical clarity is vital.

It features a number of benefits over its competitors, including low viscosity and excellent electrical properties and flexibility. It also exhibits excellent resistance to water and a wide variety of chemicals, therefore providing the highest protection in a range of environments.

The product is flame retardant, and remains flexible over an exceptionally wide temperature range of
-60 to +200C. It is also RoHS compliant and is particularly suited to applications where thin films are required due to its moisture cure nature. Additionally, automatic mixing equipment is available when bulk mixing, which will mix both the resin and hardener accurately in the correct ratio, without introducing air.

Due to SC3001’s impressive features, the silicone resin is expected to be popular within a number of different industries, but of great importance is the LED sector. The product has been specifically designed to meet a wide array of challenges facing the LED industry. It helps to dissipate heat generated from LEDs and protects and insulates components from the threats of harsh and challenging environments including moisture and general contamination. SC3001 provides a complete barrier against such environments whilst still providing outstanding performance.
