Catalogue delivers comprehensive variety of chuck jaws

A comprehensive chuck jaws catalogue is now available from Thame Workholding. The 172-page publication highlights the company’s expertise in the design and manufacture of these vital workholding elements. Diamond, segmented, easy-grip and two -piece top jaw systems are all highlighted in the catalogue.

Diamond and segmented jaws that are designed to spread the clamping pressure around the circumference of the workpiece, lower distortion and can be specified in steel or high tensile aluminium. Quick change jaws, in comparison, allow standard power chucks to be changed into quick jaw change chucks. The replacement of hard reversible jaws are available to suit most chucks with serrations or slot/tenon base jaws, as double or single step types with gripping teeth to cover a large range of diameters.

Adjustagrip jaws, designed to provide maximum grip during first operation work, allow increased feed rates and depth of cut, and are suited for rough castings and raw stock. The Patented InoGrip, InoZet and InoTop jaw systems for clamping distortion sensitive workpieces give secure grip and vastly improved out of roundness results.

A two-piece top jaw system for manual chucks, the Indexahex System, offers six alternative gripping faces with wrap-around capability and quick change over from one position to another. The Multi-Point Rocker jaws have been designed to overcome tow problems associated with thin walled components, such as rings. First, they provide six equally spaced points of grip, reducing trilobing. Secondly the rocking mechanism compensates for any out of roundness, which is common with castings and forgings.

Sales Director, Maurice Day, says: “Soft jaws are the backbone of the product ranges, with over 600 sizes and styles offered by Thame, including standard, pointed, high and wide, in steel or aluminium to suit chucks from all over the world. Full details of these and many other jaws are included in the new catalogue.”

“Of course,” Maurice Day confirms, “with over six decades of experience with chuck jaws, Thame Workholding can also design and manufacture special jaws to suit each individual application. Every year we produce hundreds of sets of problem solving jaw solutions that help our customers increase their productivity.”
