STEMMER IMAGING can now offer vision system developers and OEMs a new level of power and flexibility to develop their own embedded imaging applications. Teledyne DALSA’s new series of ‘Icon’ user programmable cameras combines Teledyne DALSA’s expertise in sensors, cameras and image processing with off-the-shelf development tools and libraries. This creates an embedded vision system platform that offers developers extensive control of the hardware and image data.

STEMMER IMAGING’s first UK Open Day proved to be a resounding success, with around 120 guests spending a very enjoyable day at its UK head quarters. A stimulating seminar programme provided 40 presentations delivered across 8 sessions throughout the day, with a choice of 5 tracks in each session. This was backed by a vision components and solutions exhibition featuring 20 of the world’s leading manufacturers.

The LMI Gocator family of 3D smart cameras available from STEMMER IMAGING has been upgraded with a host of new measurement capabilities, scripting and enhanced PLC interoperation for use across a wide range of manufacturing industries. These new facilities are also available for existing Gocator users through a free firmware download (V3.3). New measurement tools include Gap and Flush measurement, Groove measurement and extended Whole Part measurement. A new megapixel resolution version is also available.

STEMMER IMAGING will be showing a comprehensive range of vision systems at the PPMA Show. System capabilities will cover applications as diverse as 3D measurement of product volume to optimise packing and reduce packaging waste; product and packaging inspection and code and label reading and verification.

Recognising the high level of interest in ‘SuperSpeed’ USB 3.0 camera technology for machine vision, STEMMER IMAGING is hosting the ‘IDS Innovation Day’, in conjunction with IDS, manufacturers of the uEye CP range of USB 3.0 cameras with CMOS sensors.

STEMMER IMAGING can now offer a new automatic surface inspection system, based on the patented Trevista image processing system from OBE GmbH & Co KG. Structured diffuse illumination is combined with specialised calculation algorithms within the popular Sherlock machine vision platform from Teledyne DALSA to create a fast automated total inspection solution capable of identifying defects in a range of surfaces from shiny components to diffusely scattering surfaces.

STEMMER IMAGING has introduced a selection of cameras and framegrabbers that make use of the new CoaXPress data transmission standard. CoaXPress can send high speed video, communication, control and power over long distances using a single standard coaxial cable. With data rates of up to 6.25 Gbps per cable for video, images and data are achievable over distances up to 40m and data transmission over distances greater than 100m are possible at 3.125 Gbps.

STEMMER IMAGING has boosted its range of image capture cards with the addition of five new models from Datapath. All of these new cards are four lane PCI-X capture cards with video bandwidth of 650 MBytes/second.

Following on from the highly successful launch of its CVC GigE camera range STEMMER IMAGING has now released new HD models for a wide variety of applications and markets. The CVC cameras combine advanced consumer camcorder technology with an industry standard interface in a compact, feature rich package.

STEMMER IMAGING can now offer the new Prosilica GX3300 camera from AVT. The GX3300 combines 8 Mpixel resolution with high speed (240MB/s) data transfer and a frame rate of 17 fps at full resolution, meaning that it is no longer necessary to compromise resolution for speed. Supplied complete with a rich set of smart features, the GX3300 is ideally suited to a range of machine vision applications.

STEMMER IMAGING can now provide system developers with specialized monochrome and colour cameras which can provide ultra-high resolution yet use standard lens technology. Measuring just 55 x 55 x 84.5 mm, the CVC Ultra 125MP CL monochrome and CVC Ultra 45MP CL colour cameras offer a resolution of up to 125 and 45 million pixels respectively using pixel shift technology. Applications that benefit from this exceptional performance include all types of surface analysis, the inspection of printed circuit boards, documentation tasks and many scientific applications.

STEMMER IMAGING can now offer the BOA Pro smart camera from Teledyne DALSA. This new camera combines the robustness of the BOA hardware with the flexibility of the Sherlock inspection software to provide an extraordinarily versatile industrial vision solution for a host of applications. Key to the BOA Pro performance is the versatility of the Sherlock software, which offers machine vision system professionals extensive tools and capabilities for design, development, debugging, and user administration. Sherlock's extensive library of instructions, preprocessors and advanced algorithms can be combined in a variety of ways to solve simple or very demanding tasks. Maximum design flexibility is provided to allow users to customize algorithms, construct scripts and develop operator interfaces that best suit their factory environment.

STEMMER IMAGING has announced the availability of a new, economical and compact lighting system from Volpi. The IntraLED 3 is characterised by its excellent light intensity, very good homogeneity values and long service life.

CVB 2011 CameraSuite MultiOS, the latest version of STEMMER IMAGING’s high-performance and easy-to-install development environment for GigE Vision cameras, can now be used with a variety of operating systems. In addition to the 32-bit versions of Windows (XP, Vista, 7), the new CVB2011 CameraSuite MultiOS now also supports 64-bit Windows 7 and 64-bit Linux (Ubuntu, Kubuntu, Mint).

STEMMER IMAGING has announced a massive increase in turnover for the financial year ending 30th June 2011. Total turnover for the four STEMMER IMAGING companies, headquartered in Germany, exceeded 55 million Euros - a rise of more than 50% on the previous year. In the UK, turnover showed an impressive rise of nearly 40% compared to 2010.

STEMMER IMAGING has signed an agreement with the Allison Park Group Inc (APG) for the distribution of APG’s extensive range of camera and lighting enclosures for machine vision. The agreement covers distribution of these products throughout Germany, France, Switzerland and the UK.

A new family of FPGA-based GigE frame grabbers is now available from STEMMER IMAGING. The Silicon Software microEnable IV AQ4-GE and VQ4-GE can accommodate up to 4 GigE cameras simultaneously. The on-board FPGA provides real-time image processing significantly reducing the load on the host CPU. Both frame grabbers are also available in PoE (Power Over Ethernet) versions. The microEnable IV AQ4-GE is a simple to use acquisition board that, through standard AcquisitionApplets®, provides simple FPGA processing functions. This allows processes such as flat field corrections and high quality colour reconstructions from raw Bayer data to be carried out at high speed without any complex set-up.

The BOA IDR auto identification camera, now available from STEMMER IMAGING, is a fully integrated smart camera with ID software that allows comprehensive checking of product markings. By combining 1D barcode, 2D matrix and character reading and verification with pattern recognition capabilities in a single unit, BOA IDR provides part traceability and error proofing. Barcodes, ‘best before’ dates, lot numbers and even logos and other product features can also be checked and verified.
