solidThinking today announced the latest version of its solidThinking Inspire software, which allows design engineers, product designers and architects to create and investigate structurally efficient concepts quickly and easily. The Altair Partner Alliance today announced the addition of its sixth composites partner, AlphaSTAR. HyperWorks users can now access its multi-scale progressive failure analysis software, GENOA, as well as the Material Characterization and Qualifications Composites Suite. GENOA and MCQ are applicable in many industries, including aerospace, automotive, wind energy and sporting goods.

Both companies have streamlined the critical exchange between design and simulation successfully during 2012. One major project Caterham Composites and Altair Engineering focused on was Caterham Composites’ technical partnership with Alex Thomson Racing. The companies provided engineering support to help Alex Thomson finish the Vendée Globe 2012/2013 in 3rd place.

[AB]structures Relies on HyperWorks in Developing another Race-Winning Round the World Racing Yacht
Altair Engineering announced today that its HyperWorks CAE platform has been used by [AB]structures to structurally design and optimize the winning yacht in the Volvo Ocean Race, Groupama 4. The yacht, skippered by Franck Cammas, claimed victory in the Volvo Ocean Race on July 9 in Galway, Ireland, after nine months and more than 37,000 nautical miles sailed around the world under the harshest conditions.
