The Altair Partner Alliance announced this morning the expansion of its noise, vibration and harshness capabilities with the addition of new partner Cambridge Collaborative Inc. Its software, SEAM, uses statistical energy analysis to evaluate the dynamic response of complex structures at mid and high frequencies.

solidThinking today announced the latest version of its solidThinking Inspire software, which allows design engineers, product designers and architects to create and investigate structurally efficient concepts quickly and easily. Traditional structural simulations allow engineers to check if a design will support the required loads. Inspire assists this process by generating a new material layout within a package space using the loads as an input.

The Altair Partner Alliance today announced the addition of its sixth composites partner, AlphaSTAR. HyperWorks users can now access its multi-scale progressive failure analysis software, GENOA, as well as the Material Characterization and Qualifications Composites Suite. GENOA and MCQ are applicable in many industries, including aerospace, automotive, wind energy and sporting goods.

The Altair Partner Alliance announced today that its offering now includes complexity management tool Design Profit, from Munro & Associates. Design Profit assists product design engineers by exposing waste and risk in their designs so they are able to make educated decisions to reduce design complexity and weight for downstream stakeholders.

The Altair Partner Alliance announced today that Impact Design Europe has joined the program with its impact analysis tool, Crash Cad Calculate. CCC assists in the design and optimization of thin-walled cross sections of beams used in the creation of any crashworthy structure. CCC is applicable wherever the energy absorption of beam construction is crucial, including in the automotive, rail, and aerospace industries, among others.

The Altair Partner Alliance announced today that its existing partner, Key To Metals, has enabled the brand new Premium Edition of its software exclusively for availability to users of the Altair Partner Alliance. KEY to METALS Extended Range expands the previous library to include a more extensive list of metals, while the Premium Edition includes everything offered by KEY to METALS and Extended Range, as well as adding new materials, such as ceramics, composites and polymer materials.

Altair Engineering is pleased to announce today that it will host a technical session and a round table discussion about ALM (Additive Layer Manufacturing, also known as 3D Printing) at the 6th European Altair Conference. Presenters at the conference will include an Airbus endowed professor, EADS engineers, a speaker from EOS, and researchers from RWTH Aachen, ILT Fraunhofer, as well as from the Technical University Hamburg.

The Altair Partner Alliance announced today that AnalySwift will be joining the program and adding its complex composite modeling tool, SwiftComp Micromechanics, to the growing offering of partner applications available to HyperWorks users under Altair’s license manager. Altair today announced the release of Compute Manager 11.1, an enhanced version of its high-performance computing portal that simplifies the set-up, monitoring and visualization of simulations. Altair announced today the addition of TES International’s software ElectroFlo for thermal analysis to the array of applications available through the HyperWorks Partner Alliance. ElectroFlo is an electronics cooling package designed for high power-density applications. It is used for the thermal analysis of electrical components and systems. Altair HyperWorks customers can access ElectroFlo through the HWPA with their current HyperWorks units.

Altair Engineering announced today that its HyperWorks CAE platform has been used by [AB]structures to structurally design and optimize the winning yacht in the Volvo Ocean Race, Groupama 4. The yacht, skippered by Franck Cammas, claimed victory in the Volvo Ocean Race on July 9 in Galway, Ireland, after nine months and more than 37,000 nautical miles sailed around the world under the harshest conditions.
