Altair announced a new High-Performance Computing (HPC) Cloud Challenge utilizing Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Intel technologies to demonstrate the benefits of leveraging the cloud for large-scale design exploration in the area of computer-aided engineering (CAE).  

Altair announced that SGI has renewed its original equipment manufacturer (OEM) agreement naming PBS Professional as SGI’s workload manager and job scheduler with global support provided by Altair.

Altair has announced that its product development group, Altair ProductDesign, has reached a new milestone having expanded to more than 800 engineering and design staff across the world. This represents a 100% increase in staff numbers during the last 10 years. The growth has been fuelled by a combination of expansion into new territories, diversification into new industry sectors, the acquisition of a number of large engineering programs in the automotive and aerospace markets and the huge success of the company’s onsite technical staffing business.

Altair has announced it is now accepting nominations for the 2015 Altair Enlighten Award, the automotive industry’s only award program solely dedicated to innovation in vehicle lightweighting. Now in its third year, the annual award will be presented in collaboration with the Center for Automotive Research (CAR) at the 50th annual CAR Management Briefing Seminars in Traverse City, Mich., August 3-6, 2015.

Altair and AVL today announced a tighter integration between Altair OptiStruct, an award-winning finite element analysis (FEA) solver that is part of the Altair HyperWorks computer-aided engineering (CAE) suite, and AVL EXCITE, the market-leading simulation environment for dynamics and acoustics of powertrain systems. The fast and accurate coupling between OptiStruct and AVL EXCITE shortens the associated workflow, reduces error, and improves the robustness of engine dynamics analyses.

Altair announced it will present its solutions for the design and optimization of composites as well as several customer successes at JEC Europe March 10-12 in Paris. Altair Partner Alliance (APA) announced that CAEfatigue VIBRATION is available to HyperWorks users for download. CAEfatigue VIBRATION is a frequency-based fatigue solver and random response post processor developed by CAEfatigue Limited. 

Altair Engineering, Inc announced that the University of Birmingham has signed a collaboration agreement to implement Altair's computer-aided engineering (CAE) suite HyperWorks into their research and teaching activities.

Altair launch HyperXtrude 2015, a new version of the popular simulation tool for extrusion processes. For the first time, engineers on the shop floor may validate die designs using computer-aided engineering (CAE) techniques directly from computer-aided design (CAD) models. Altair today announced a new release of HyperWorks, the latest version of its CAE software platform, which enables its users to create more durable and efficient products. HyperWorks 13.0 increases engineering productivity in four distinct areas: Performance optimization, lightweight design, lead-time reduction and access to new technologies.

Enabling 3-matic STL to be available to HyperWorks users, Materialise has joined the Altair Partner Alliance. With 3-matic STL, users can make design modifications directly on STL, scanned, and CAD data in preparation for 3D printing.

Kuala Lumpur has been chosen as the regional headquarters for Altair Engineering Sdn Bhd, spearheading Altair's expansion plan in Southeast Asia. The office in Plaza Sentral will also serve as Altair’s training and technical support center for the region.

Altair Engineering announced today that L&L Products Europe SAS has extended its use of Altair’s HyperWorks suite of CAE tools to aeronautical projects. Aeronautics is the latest application field in which L&L uses HyperWorks successfully, along with the company’s work in the automotive, commercial and agricultural vehicle industries. The HyperWorks suite is used for projects in all industries the company covers, especially for acoustic analysis and structural-part optimization.

Altair today announced the release of an upgraded technology package that brings together all the tools that engineers require for the complete design and analysis of vehicle powertrains. Altair revealed that SimLab 12.0, a software tool created specifically as a pre-processor for detailed computer models of complex powertrains, has been released as part of HyperWorks 12.0, Altair’s popular suite of computer-aided engineering software.

Altair today announced that aerospace and composites design and analysis consultancy Frewer Engineering has invested in and now is employing HyperMesh, Altair’s meshing tool included in the HyperWorks suite. HyperMesh is known for its proven speed in meshing and as one of the most robust pre-processing tools available on the market. Frewer Engineering uses HyperMesh to prepare and design large FEA models for the analysis of aerospace components to investigate the structural integrity of composite material.
