SimData Manager from PDTec AG has been added to software from the Altair Partner Alliance (APA). Providing simulation data management for efficient and systematic access to all simulation-relevant data throughout the entire computer-aided engineering (CAE) process chain, SimData Manager delivers an enterprise CAE data management system.

Greek technology company specialising in photorealistic rendering and visualisation, Solid Iris Technologies, has been acquired by Altair, with its high-end solution ‘Thea Render’. The companies have built a relationship over the past several years, with Altair using Solid Iris’ Thea Render superior technology to provide rendering functionality in its solidThinking Evolve concept design software.

A memorandum of understanding to promote technological and engineering interests has been signed by Altair and Progresstech at the Farnborough International Airshow this week. Under which Progresstech will provide engineering expertise and market positions to distribute Altair’s software technology and methods in Russia and the Commonwealth of Independent States.

Open source licensing for Altair’s market-leading high-performance computing (HPC) workload manager, PBS Professional (PBS Pro), is now available. PBS Pro development communities are now forming and the full-core open source version of PBS Pro can be downloaded here.

Altair and Maplesoft have entered a strategic partnership, allowing Altair to OEM Modelica, the object-oriented modeling language engine of MapleSim, Maplesoft’s advanced system-level modeling and simulation platform. Altair will embed and leverage the MapleSim Modelica Engine to support their model-based system development strategy and focus on multi-physics simulation.

A collaboration of cutting edge technology and companies, anthropometry, and years of experience has led to the unveiling of the new Robot Bike Co. R160 mountain bike frame – designed and manufactured in the UK with partner companies Altair, HiETA Technologies and Renishaw using metal additive manufacturing (3D printing). 

The Altair Partner Alliance (APA) added Hyperlean s.r.l.’s cost estimation software LeanCOST for HyperWorks users. LeanCOST can be used for quick and easy cost estimation of products, processes, single components and assemblies based on automatic feature recognition from 3D models.

Altair is supporting the Vortex Bladeless, a Wind Energy Spanish Crowd Funding Project by providing free software licenses, training, and engineering services. Vortex Bladeless was founded in 2013 as an R&D company, exclusively dedicated to the development and marketing of Vortex, a multi-patented bladeless electric wind generator. The project focuses on the development of generators able to capture the kinetic wind energy by 'vortex shedding' and transform it into electricity. This new technology seeks to overcome issues related to traditional wind turbines such as maintenance, amortization, noise, environmental impact, logistics, and visual aspects. Currently, the company’s focus is on the development of small wind products, with mass power generation devices planned for the future.

Altair presents at this year's Aerospace Interiors Expo, April 5 - 7, in Hamburg the latest version of its simulation software suite HyperWorks 14.0, its concept design and optimization tools solidThinking Evolve and Inspire 2016, and new design processes for the development and manufacturing of innovative products.

Altair ProductDesign has partnered with thyssenkrupp to develop a revolutionary rope-less elevator system. The new elevator system, named ‘MULTI’, does not require any roof mounted cables which enables it to travel with no limits in height like conventional elevators.  Passengers therefore have no need to swap elevator mid journey. In addition, this weight optimized new design, which uses electro-magnetic drives to move the elevator between floors, is capable of transporting the elevator horizontally as well as vertically.

Altair will present its software and service solutions for the design and optimization of composites as well as several customer successes at JEC World, the largest international show of the composite industry, on March 8-10 in Paris. 

Ting-Yen Shih, a PhD student from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, was today announced the 2015 winner of the FEKO Student Competition.  The contest, now in its 11th year, supports engineering education and academic excellence and is aimed at students interested in antennas, microwave devices, bio-electromagnetics, electromagnetic compatibility, and other electromagnetic related fields.  The competition is an ideal opportunity for the students to showcase their work with FEKO, the electromagnetic solver of Altair HyperWorks. Entries for the competition this year were received from many countries, including Argentina, Belgium, South Africa, the USA and Australia.

Altair and LZN (Laser Zentrum Nord) have announced a training cooperation in which the companies will now jointly deliver expert training in an end2end design process for industrial 3D printing, thus maximizing the true potential of the technology.

Altair announced that Metal Forming Research Corporation (MFRC) has joined the Altair Partner Alliance (APA) with its forging software, Advisor for Metal Forming Process and Design Expert (AFDEX). Originally developed to analyze the forging process, the software capabilities have expanded to apply to extrusion, drawing, rolling, ring rolling, and other functionalities of production lines.

The Centre for High Performance Computing (CHPC) will host its 9th national meeting from November 30 – December 5 in Pretoria and Altair South Africa will once again be a Platinum Sponsor and exhibit at the event, with live demonstrations of the software capabilities.

Altair announced it has reached an agreement with the Airbus Group that provides designers and engineers of its Airbus, Airbus Helicopters, and Airbus Defence & Space divisions, as well as of any other company to which the Airbus Group holds more than 50% of voting rights, access to Altair’s entire software portfolio, including the HyperWorks CAE suite for its modeling, visualization, optimization and solver solutions.

Altair announced that FluiDyna has joined the Altair Partner Alliance, adding nanoFluidX and ultraFluidX to its software portfolio. Both software bring unique capabilities to HyperWorks customers. nanoFluidX is based on a particle-based method for fluid flow simulation, and ultraFluidX applies the Lattice Boltzmann Method to study external aerodynamics. Both technologies utilize graphics processing unit (GPU) technology for fast, large-scale computation.

Altair announced that Brüel & Kjær Sound & Vibration Measurement A/S has joined the Altair Partner Alliance, bringing its noise, vibration and harshness software, Insight+, to HyperWorks customers. Insight+ creates the ability to efficiently consider test and computer-aided engineering data together to assist engineers in better understanding NVH contributions early in the design process.

Altair announced today that the 8th European Altair Technology Conference (ATC), planned for September 29th - October 1st, 2015 at the Cité des Sciences in Paris, France will be relocated to the "Cité de la Musique", due to a fire related, temporary shutdown of the originally planned conference facility until the middle of October. The new location is situated in the same area of Paris, La Villette and just a 10 minute walk from the original venue.

Altair announced a business collaboration with Microsoft to build and offer high-performance computing (HPC) solutions on the Azure cloud computing platform. This follows Microsoft’s decision to name Altair’s PBS Works suite as its preferred workload management solution for Azure manufacturing clients.
