Software for low frequency electromagnetic and thermal simulation, Flux, now a part of the Altair HyperWorks simulation platform, has released its new version, Flux 12.3. Using breakthrough technologies, Flux is a suitable tool for the analysis, design and optimisation of modern applications such as electric rotating machines, actuators and sensors, high power electrical equipment, heat treatment or electromagnetic compatibility.

  The product development services division from Altair ProductDesign has received a 2016 Boeing Performance Excellence Award. The Boeing Company issues the award annually to recognise suppliers who have achieved superior performance.

Engineering students from across the world are once again being invited by Altair to participate in the 15th annual FEKO Student Competition. The competition seeks under-graduate and post-graduate students who have worked on a supervised project in electromagnetic engineering using FEKO, Altair's Comprehensive Electromagnetic (EM) analysis software suite.

A third category has been introduced to the 2017 Altair Enlighten Award, the award programme aimed specifically at highlighting achievements in vehicle lightweighting. The new Enabling Technology category is specific to products that make innovation in full vehicles, automotive modules, systems and components possible, such as fasteners, adhesives, materials and processes.  

At this year’s HANNOVER MESSE, taking place 24th-28th April, Altair will be presenting its solutions and methods for simulation driven design and a technology demonstrator of a virtual cobot (a collaborative robot), as well as customer examples to demonstrate how Altair's solutions can be applied to develop innovative products.

To design and optimise high-performance, efficient, and innovative products, Altair offers new technologies with the release of HyperWorks 2017. This latest release sees several functionalities added in areas such as model-based development, electromagnetism, non-linear structural analysis, modelling and meshing, multiphysics and multi-disciplinary analysis, lightweight design and optimisation.

The keynote presentations for the 9th European Altair Technology Conference (ATC), have been announced, which will be held at the Congressforum in Frankenthal, Germany, from June 26th - 28th 2017. This year the conference will dedicate an entire day to keynote presentations, including vision and strategy presentations from Altair's executive board and customers such as Airbus, Artemis Racing, Daimler, IAI (Israel Aerospace Industry), Porsche, Schneider Electric, Streetscooter and Zodiac Aerospace.

The addition of Fieldscale’s SENSE has been announced by Altair Partner Alliance (APA), to its software offering. Sense is an intuitive and highly advanced touchscreen design and simulation tool. The algorithms provide accurate results up to ten times faster than any other simulation software. As a result, engineers save effort and time and products are launched sooner and with increased profit margins.

At JEC World, the largest international show of the composite industry, on 14th-16th March in Paris, Altair will present its technology to design, analyse, and optimise composite material structural parts and assemblies for laminated, chopped fibre and particulate composites as well as several customer successes.

The addition of SantosHuman’s Santos Pro (Pro) to theAltair Partner Alliance’s (APA) software offering has been announced. Pro predicts human performance in order to aid in human-centric virtual design and analysis, while considering human strength, fatigue, flexibility, balance, vision and posture as well as clothing and other equipment worn on the body, external forces and environmental conditions.

As a result of Altair winning a benchmarking competition, Airbus will implement a new pre- and post- processing tool based on Altair’s solutions HyperMesh and HyperView as the new platform worldwide. The benchmarking competition, which was initiated by Airbus in early 2016, has led to this agreement between Altair and Airbus. 

  A new partner agreement with Soothsayer Analytics has been signed by solidThinking, which looks to expand the reach of Envision’s cloud-based business intelligence solution. 

  It has been announced that Masters student at Curtin University in Perth, Australia, Daniel Ung, has won the 2016 FEKO Student Competition, an annual international contest organised in support of engineering education and academic excellence.

Best application of HPC in Manufacturing has been won by Altair, in the annual HPCwire Readers’ and Editors’ Choice Awards for simulation work done with Stanley Black & Decker using Altair’s HyperWorks Unlimited Physical Appliance powered by SGI. The award was presented at the 2016 International Conference for High Performance Computing, Networking, Storage and Analysis (SC16), in Salt Lake City, Utah. 

The High-Performance Computing (HPC) workload manager from Altair, PBS Professional (PBS Pro), is being included in Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) Core HPC Software Stack and in the HPE High Performance Computing Software Stack. The Core HPC Software Stack is available now via download. 

The upcoming availability of Altair PBS Cloud has been announced by Altair, as its latest appliance solution to further cloud computing for organisations. Altair PBS Cloud is a solution to build and run high-performance computing (HPC) appliances for both public clouds, private clouds, and bare-metal infrastructure. Altair will release Altair PBS Cloud in the first quarter of 2017 following conclusion of a private preview.

Altair Engineering has announced the start of a collaboration with TotalSim. The collaboration will start with TotalSim UK adopting HyperMesh, part of the HyperWorks suite, as their main geometry pre-processor for CFD. This demonstrates the advances made in the development of Altair’s CFD toolset.

Presenting at this year’s formnext, in Frankfurt, Altair will be showcasing the latest versions of its simulation software suite HyperWorks 14.0, concept design and optimisation tools solidThinking Evolve as well as Inspire 2016, highlighting new design processes for the development and manufacturing of innovative products.

A new reseller agreement has been signed by Altair, for the Hungarian market, with S&T Consulting Hungary, part of the S&T AG Group.

A new reseller agreement has been signed by Altair with IPM Solutions, which will provide Slovakian customers with local HyperWorks sales and consulting. IPM Solutions covers the customers’ needs within the entire territory of Slovakia. The company has three offices, in Presov, Zilina, and Bratislava, which enables them to react quickly to its customers’ needs and requirements.
