The High-Performance Computing (HPC) workload manager from Altair, PBS Professional (PBS Pro), is being included in Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) Core HPC Software Stack and in the HPE High Performance Computing Software Stack. The Core HPC Software Stack is available now via download.

The HPE High Performance Computing Software Stack is available now as part of customer beta testing and will be released in the first quarter of 2017.

The HPE High Performance Computing Software Stack provides the commercially licensed version of PBS Pro. Users of this stack will benefit from advanced testing and integration and receive HPE technical support along with Altair’s global support for PBS Professional. The Core HPC Software Stack includes the open source licensed version of PBS Professional. It is available with registration at no charge for standalone clusters of up to 32 nodes, with a 120 day trial license available for larger clusters.

“Together, Altair and HPE have been delivering innovative solutions that push the boundaries and capabilities of HPC,” said Piush Patel, Vice President, Corporate Development for HPC at Altair. “The offering of PBS Professional as a choice in HPC software stacks from HPE further enhances the customer experience in using and managing HPC systems. The solution provides seamless deployment and advanced functionality so that organisations can benefit from efficient management and maximum system utilisation.”

Both software stacks are complete HPC software solutions that allow HPC system administrators and managers to easily setup, configure, optimise and manage compute systems to run HPC applications. Each stack is a fully integrated and validated solution.

“HPE welcomes PBS Professional as a choice workload manager for both HPC software stacks,” said Scott Misage, Vice President, HPC Solutions and Apollo Pursuits, Hewlett Packard Enterprise. “We always provide our customers with the flexibility to choose the solutions that best fits the requirements of their environment, and HPE can fully meet these needs with PBS Pro.”

Altair and HPE have collaborated and served the HPC industry for many years delivering industry standard solutions that are optimised for scalability and performance to reduce organisations’ capital and operating expenses. HPE Insight Cluster Management Utility (CMU) and PBS Professional have been integrated to provide easier cluster deployment and management for users, and a CMU PBS Professional Connector is available to download for free on the PBS Works website.
