The Centre for High Performance Computing (CHPC) will host its 9th national meeting from November 30 – December 5 in Pretoria and Altair South Africa will once again be a Platinum Sponsor and exhibit at the event, with live demonstrations of the software capabilities.

Close to 500 delegates are expected to attend the event, being hosted at the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) Convention Centre in Pretoria, an increase from last year of almost 350.

“We can apportion this increase to the integrated cyberinfrastructure projects taking flight as there will likely be greater participation by national research and education networks (NRENs), and other stakeholders who are concerned with the secure transfer and sharing of SKA and SADC data among global partners,” explains Dr Happy Sithole, CHPC Director.

The theme of the conference this year is: “Towards an integrated cyberinfrastructure”, and the program will cover a wide range of unique topics as well as feature speakers from all over the world. Ian Littlewood, Director of Enterprise Solutions for Altair EMEA business, and based in the UK, will be the keynote speaker in the computational mechanics session on Wednesday December 2.  Littlewood will be presenting international case studies, illustrating how computational mechanics problems were solved using Altair’s HPC Solutions. A full program can be found here.

A live hands-on demo session will be hosted by Ian Littlewood on Monday November 30, who will share his in-depth knowledge and expertise on PBS Professional. Along with tips and tricks, attendees with also be shown how to setup and configure PBS Professional 13.0.

“This is the second year of our three year sponsorship of this event," said Gronum Smith, Country Manager of Altair South Africa. We have found it to be the perfect platform to showcase Altair’s HPC solutions and our capabilities in this area to the HPC community. We reach an expert audience and it supports and encourages our growth in HPC solutions in the Southern Africa region.” To register for the conference and more information visit www.chpcconf.co.za.
