Tolerance compensation shims save costs in OEM and MRO processes
In aerospace engineering M-Tech laminated and solid shims from Georg Martin GmbH ensure fast, precision tolerance compensation in the assembly of fuselages, gearboxes, movable components – such as doors, elevators and rudder – and cabin furnishings.
In addition to the well-established metallic shims, the newly developed peel-off PET shims are already used today to reduce assembly times: Unlike cast resin products, these shims do not require time to cure. Together with its customers, Martin also develops solutions for an ever increasing number of applications in the field of gap management. Of special interest here are Martin’s in-house developed M-Tech shims, which offer customers a range of benefits over conventional gap management solutions.

With its many production methods, Martin has the capability for developing products and solutions for a wide range of applications. Its large portfolio of gap management products includes shims for demanding applications. As well as laminated materials, cost-effective punched metal foil with a thickness of only ten micrometres as well as self-adhesive wear protection strips are available. Complex drawn and stamped components as well as smaller machined and assembled component groups round off the range of available products. Martin’s customer focus and innovative strength has been benefiting customers in the aerospace and automotive sector for many decades.

Georg Martin will be at the following trade shows this year:
Farnborough Airshow, 9 to 12 July 2012, Farnborough, UK: Hall 4 Booth FT14
ILA Berlin Air Show, 11 to 16 September 2012, Berlin, Germany
Airtec, 6 to 8 November 2012, Frankfurt/Main, Germany
Aeromart Toulouse, 4 to 6 December 2012, Toulouse, France
