Precision Couplings For Roll Forming Machines And Sheet Metal Shaping
For processes involving roll forming machines, a variety of specific shape changes are usually applied to cast materials. Because these reshaping processes are often performed by rollers or by forges, the couplings have to be precise, torsionally rigid and robust, and they have to have high displacement and offset capacity.
The couplings from SCHMIDT-KUPPLUNG are employed in all kinds of roll feed systems. The compact and precise couplings in the Schmidt-Kupplung and Semiflex series are employed in precise and clocked work processes such as in the transportation of sheet metals, in cutting and punching products and in embossing rollers.

The Semiflex are designed with two pairs of parallel links installed 90 degrees out of phase with each other. This unique arrangement allows for the precise transmission of torque and constant angular velocity between shafts with relatively large parallel misalignments. Both shafts can adjust to each other in every radial direction not only whilst at rest, but also in transmission and under load. No restoring forces are imposed on the shaft support bearings from the operation of the coupling system.

The Schmidt-Kupplung is a compact, torsionally stiff performance shaft coupling and compensates variable parallel shaft offset without side loads in a very compact envelope. The Schmidt-Kupplung is the ideal precision component for small envelopes. Through its modular construction both torque transmission and radial offset capacity can be optimized for each application.

The precision couplings are also used in drives for trimming shears, the final process in sheet metal processing.

Couplings from the Semiflex range are employed in profiling systems. Their compactness makes it possible for them to work in a very tight space at numerous profiling stations. The couplings are equipped with backlash-free split clamp-hubs. Radial assembly and dismantling capacity allow individual stations to be added without the need to axially displace the components. For highest torque requirements and shock loads which can occure in some profiling machines, the coupling manufacture offers the torsionally stiff couplings in locking-assembly version with a maximum torque capacity up to 18800 Nm.
