Thermistors designed to solve moisture intrusion problems

An over-moulding process ensuring zero possibility of moisture intrusion in the probe assembly, is how Selco Products Custom TPE Thermistors are designed, meaning they are well suited in applications with overall operating temperature range of -40°C to 135°C. Manufactured with robust, UL certified TPE material, these custom assemblies are ideal for harsh moisture environments.

The TPE housing material is fused to the TPE lead wire insulation during the over-moulding process which creates a moisture proof seal between the probe housing and the lead wire insulation.

Depending on application requirements, these custom thermistor assemblies can have an accuracy as high as ±(0.2°C) over 0-70°C or a tolerance of ±1.0% to ±10%. In specific applications such as NSF or medical, FDA approved TPE material can be supplied.

Selco Products Product Manager, Mike Dobson said: “Engineers that are looking at applications such as refrigeration and others where the temperature sensor is exposed to moisture or high humidity will benefit from this custom design.”

Dobson added: "These TPE over-moulded thermistors will allow customers to select the right type of probe for their application to ensure that the thermistor is truly moisture proof.”

These custom assemblies are produced with a probe housing diameter of 0.252x1.130”however, other dimensions can be provided as required by customer. They are supplied with 22AWG TPE insulated leads. The lead length can be specified by the customer and can come in grey, black, white and other colours if needed.

The leads can be supplied with connectors, lead stripping, or blunt cut as desired. These high quality TPE over-moulded thermistors are competitively priced and Selco can supply UL 1434 certified DO-35 discrete thermistors for the assembly as required.
