The British Safety Industry Federation (BSIF) has awarded its Product Innovation Award to VeriPRO, the earplug fit testing system from Howard Leight by Sperian. The award, which is designed to recognise excellence and innovation within the safety industry, was presented at the RoSPA Occupational Health and Safety Awards Gala Dinner held during Safety and Health Expo 2010.

Howard Leight by Sperian has launched a new push-in ear plug for occupational hearing protection. The new Pilot™ ear plug features an innovative hybrid design that combines the performance and cost savings of the Quiet® multiple-use ear plug, with the superior comfort of the Max® single-use ear plug to deliver long-wearing comfort and total control over fit.

Howard Leight by Sperian has introduced QuietDose, the only personal dosimeter that measures and records a worker’s actual in-ear exposure to noise over an entire work shift. The introduction is a major advance towards stopping the progression of occupational hearing loss and ensuring employer compliance with hearing safety regulations.

Sperian Protection has launched the Optrel p500, a new line of customisable welding helmets that combine design and performance. These optoelectronic helmets are a genuine innovation for the welding market thanks to the new concept of lateral inserts. Welders can use these interchangeable and replaceable inserts to customise their equipment.

Sperian Protection has strengthened its position as the world leader in eye protection with the launch of DuraMaxx, a new generation of goggles combining innovation, comfort and performance. The weakness of the Single Number Rating system in regards to the specification of earplugs is well recognised in that it provides a theoretical level of hearing protection as opposed to an actual measurement of protection. New VeriPRO technology from Howard Leight by Sperian measures real-world attenuation of unmodified earplugs and can be used as a means to improve individual employee training and enhance the overall effectiveness of hearing conservation programs. This truly innovative technology has been developed in conjunction with the House Ear Institute (www.hei.org) in the United States and its launch is part of the HearForever campaign from Howard Leight by Sperian.

Sperian Protection has launched a new lens coating technology, Dura-streme, which enables the benefits of the industry’s leading anti-fog and anti-scratch coatings to be provided on opposite sides of the same lens.

Signifying its continued growth and expansion Sperian Protection (UK) is moving to new, significantly improved business premises in Basingstoke, less than 10 miles away from its existing Hampshire location in the UK. The move will take place on the 22nd November 2008. The new modern premises offer an improved working environment for the staff that Sperian Protection employs in the UK.
