Mogden Sewage Treatment Works is one of five in the London area being upgraded by Thames Water, to ensure the stricter treatment standards to be introduced by its regulator, the Environment Agency, in 2013 are met. As Mogden is situated in a densely populated area and part of the upgrade project includes modifying the digesters, Thames Water has added new odour monitors around this area, which all use industry-leading Jerome hydrogen sulphide analysers and are linked to the SCADA network.

ABLE Instruments & Controls, a leading supplier of instrumentation and control solutions in process industries, has announced the award of a multimillion dollar contract order to supply flow meters to the natural gas processing facility within the Chevron-operated Gorgon Project in Australia, one of the world’s largest natural gas projects.

At Macfarlan Smith’s pharmaceutical manufacturing site in Edinburgh the requirement for a new batching system was identified. During the specification and delivery process, Macfarlan Smith turned to ABLE Instruments & Controls Ltd, as the only supplier able to provide a hazardous area portable flow meter, as a temporary measure, to minimise down time.

Oil & Gas Systems has purchased ABLE McCrometer V-Cone meters for their gas metering skid designed for the new Oselvar Production Module. The module is due to be installed on the BP Operated Ula Platform and the decision to purchase the ABLE McCrometer V-Cone meters was reached by BP, Aker Offshore Partnership and SGC.

Suncor (formerly Petro-Canada) has recently installed a new desander skid for their gas well on the Hanze Platform, in the Dutch sector of the North Sea, approx 200 km North-West of Den Helder. Suncor has already utilised the ABLE Nucleonic equipment on another platform and therefore specified the same equipment for Hanze, maintaining continuity. The desander skid duty is to prevent sand being carried over in to the process lines. On the Hanze gas well, the gas flow comes in to the desander vessel and any sand entrained in the flow would fall out of the flow and fill up the desander vessel. The nucleonic level detector has been installed as a high level trip/alarm on this vessel.

ABLE is pleased to offer the new Computrac MAX-4000XL moisture in solids analyser. The 4000-XL provides the same reliability and ruggedness of the MAX-2000XL but with 25% faster throughput. Significant performance enhancements include uniform heating and a lid fan which rapidly cools the heat chamber to reduce time between tests and allow for greater ease of use and accuracy. A colour LCD display comes as standard on this instrument to make it more user friendly.
