World’s toughest range of M8 inductive sensors now available with M12 connectors

The Contrinex Series 700, the world’s toughest range of stainless-steel, inductive sensors, now includes versions with an M8 sensor plus M12 connector allowing system designers to use compact high performance sensors while standardising on M12 connector format.

The complete assembly of the sensing face, main housing and connector of the Series 700 sensors are machined from a single piece of stainless steel. As a result these sealed sensors, can withstand extreme impact, high shock levels and are resistant to almost any chemical stress. In addition, the use of patented, sensor technology, known as Condet®, produces a sensing distance three times that of conventional sensors of a similar size that is stable over its full temperature range from -25ºC to +70ºC. The M8 non-flush sensor has a sensing distance of 6mm while with the flush mountable version it is 3mm.

Rated to IP68, the ruggedness and sensitivity of the Series 700 makes it ideal for aggressive manufacturing environments as are found in the automotive, food and marine industries and environments where sensor failure is a regular occurrence. Because the Series 700 sensors are form-fit and function-replacement for conventional sensors upgrades can be carried out with no tooling changes.

The Series 700 sensors operate on ferrous magnetic metals as well as non-ferrous metals that have a good level of conductivity and detect all these metals at roughly the same distance. This means that they will sense aluminium at the same position as steel and thus resolve a long standing issue encountered in the automotive and manufacturing industry of part-detection when handling alloy products.
