SPS IPC Drives: Safety sensors for operator protection

Safety systems for the protection of personnel are this year’s hot topic for Contrinex at SPS IPC Drives in Nuremberg, Hall 7A, Stand 406. Highlights include the unveiling of two new series of safety sensors, certified category 4 according to ISO 13849-1. Types are available with magnetic or RFID coding, which ensures immunity to mutual interference, and also largely eliminates the risk of tampering.

The new sensors are a reliable, non-contact solution for monitoring the status of protective doors, hoods or covers, including multi-sensor systems.

Their compact housing is resistant to water jets and cleaning agents, with Ecolab certification and an IP6K9K enclosure rating. They are highly suitable for the protection all who work with or around printing machines, robot cells, conveyor belts, assembly lines and injection molding machines and are recommended for hygienic areas in the food and pharmaceutical industries.

Slender but robust light curtains from the 'Slim' range for hand protection in confined spaces complement the Contrinex safety portfolio. With a profile measuring just 26x26mm and a design that allows blind-zone-free installation, they significantly increase workplace ergonomics around conveyors, pick-and-place systems and machines for forming, printing and assembly.

GL-approved inductive sensors for marine applications
A completely new range of inductive sensors features GL certification for marine applications according to class DNVGL-CG-0339. Their advanced EMC technology and extremely high salt-water resistance makes the Contrinex Maritime range ideal for the most demanding applications in ships and offshore, as well as in wind parks and harbor installations.

In addition, these sensors offer the advantages of an IO-Link interface: in such hard-to-access mounting conditions, remote configuration and diagnostics can bring decisive cost advantages. In robust full-metal housings sized M10 to M30 and C23, they withstand the harshest environments.

The series also includes types with pressure resistance up to 500 bar (800 bar peak). All Contrinex Maritime sensors have an enclosure rating of IP68 and/or IP69K.

New, chip-immune inductive sensors, photoelectric distance sensors, photoelectric sensors in short M18 housings, RFID tags and RFID software are further highlights at this year’s SPS IPC Drives in Nuremberg.
