Concept
The concept of the Award is to seek from sign designers, sign makers, sign design schools and colleges, and anyone interested in sign design, their thoughts and ideas of a stunning sign for the year 2020.
The concept of the competition is as follows: A historic building in a major European city has recently been bought by an International company who specialises in building refurbishment. During the next six years this building will be totally redesigned and internally reconfigured into a five star luxury hotel. The outside facade will not be changed in any way. Your task is to design external signage comprising a double sided projecting sign, a fascia sign and a monolith/totem sign which will reflect modern signage in the year 2020 and be in keeping with the exterior aspects of the new hotel and the surroundings.
The Design
The design must incorporate the letters R Y S T, although these can be placed in any order and location, but must be included within each sign section. There will be no restriction in the size of the sign but visuality within the overall design and the facade of the hotel it will be a significant factor.
Specific attention must be given to the type of materials used, method of construction, sustainability, illumination, carbon footprint and recycling. A written explanation of no more than 500 words describing the manufacturing specification and parameters used must be included with the entry.
Competition Entrants
The Competition will be open to all design schools, sign makers and designers based in Europe. There will be three categories of entries. Design schools, sign makers and sign designers.

The Award will comprise a Sign “Oscar” plus a certificate and the winner will benefit from the publicity which will surround the competition. The Awards Ceremony will take place during the European Sign Show in London and is expected to create a lot of publicity and interest throughout Europe.
