  Having obtained a compliance certificate from TÜV SÜD for its AM250 laser melting machine, Renishaw intends to help 3D printing evolve from being considered an emerging technology, reserved for design and testing, into a mainstream manufacturing tool.

Shop floor process control with Equator now includes NEW ultra-fast touch trigger probing, easy-to-use feature-based offsetting and updated EZ-IO automation software.  

Renishaw will be exhibiting at Advanced Engineering 2014, within the Aero Engineering section. In hall 5, on stand D5, visitors to the exhibition will be able to see a range of Renishaw's products, including Equator, the 'thermally insensitive' gauging system for shop floor inspection, as well as the company's additive manufacturing technology. 

Renishaw is highlighting a developing family of high performance hardware and software products for co-ordinate measuring machines that are specifically designed to aid the measurement and manufacturing of aerospace blades.

Renishaw has announced it will launch its SPRINT high-speed analogue contact scanning system for CNC machine tools, in autumn 2013. The SPRINT system incorporates a new generation of on-machine analogue scanning technology that will deliver a step-change in the benefits of process control, enabling fast and accurate form and profile data capture from both prismatic and complex 3D components.

The Renishaw QC20-W ballbar system is widely recognised as a preventative maintenance tool for new and installed machines. Aquasub Engineering is using QC20-W ballbar to reduce maintenance costs, increase capacity and reduce scrappage. With an increasing emphasis on Total Productive Maintenance, Aquasub started looking for solutions and on discovering that Renishaw had launched a new wireless QC20-W ballbar system, decided to get a demonstration.

NextiraOne and Renishaw have signed a new five-year Managed Services contract that covers the company’s European and global operations. Renishaw chose NextiraOne because its strong European footprint and global operations matches Renishaw’s own extensive geographical spread; NextiraOne also has expertise in all aspects of Renishaw’s technology estate, from voice & data to wireless infrastructure.

The Board of Renishaw plc is pleased to announce the appointment of John Jeans CBE CEng as a non-executive director with effect from 11 April 2013. In an industrial career spanning more than 35 years, John held senior leadership positions in several global companies including Smith & Nephew, Bristol Myers Squibb, Johnson & Johnson and Amersham plc (now GE Healthcare). His experience ranges from medical devices and pharmaceuticals to in-vivo and in-vitro diagnostics encompassing research, product development, manufacturing and commercialisation.

Renishaw has opened its eleventh office in China with a new liaison office in Wuhan. The new office is located within a state-level high-technology industrial development zone in the south east of Wuhan, which is the capital city of Hubei province.

Renishaw will be exhibiting its gauging and additive manufacturing (3D printing) products for the first time at Plastic Design & Moulding 2013 from 18 – 19 June at the Telford International Centre in Telford, UK. On stand B039 Renishaw will be showing Equator, a lightweight, fast and highly repeatable gauge that operators can use with ‘push-button' simplicity.

Renishaw attended the Big Bang Fair in London last week to help promote science and engineering to children, parents and teachers from across the UK. The event was attended by over 60,000 people and was well supported by Government, with the opening performed by Business Secretary Vince Cable, and visits also received by the Prime Minister and David Willetts, Minister for Universities and Science.

Renishaw has introduced significant new additions to its range of radio transmission probe systems, including an interface that allows multiple probe installations on the same machine tool, and a new compact tool setting probe with radio signal transmission which is ideal for larger machines.

Renishaw's XR20-W rotary axis calibrator has proven to be a hit with customers since its launch in November 2011. Recognising the change in user requirements since the original RX10 was designed almost 20 years ago the new product promised easier set-up and use in a smaller and more compact package.

Renishaw are collaborating with TEAM Engineering and WEAF, to hold a Manufacturing Excellence Event, which will be held at Renishaw's New Mills headquarters in Gloucestershire on 10 April 2013. The event, which is targeted at companies involved with aerospace design and manufacture, will include representatives from Rolls-Royce, Renishaw and Siemens.

Renishaw has been nominated for the Best Technology award at this year's PLC Awards, which are given annually for smaller companies listed on the London Stock Exchange. The award, which Renishaw last won in 2010, is given to a company whose business growth and success is dependent on, or attributable to, the development of its technology.

The recently established Mexican subsidiary of Renishaw recently held the formal inauguration of its new facility based in San Pedro Garza García. The inauguration was attended by invited guests from industry and educational establishments, who were welcomed by Leo Somerville, President of Renishaw Inc., Alejandro Silva, Director and General Manager of Renishaw Mexico, and Ms Sarah Hildersley, Director of UK Trade & Investment at the UK Consulate in Monterrey.

Renishaw is pleased to be announced as a sponsor of The Big Bang UK Young Scientists and Engineer's Fair as part of its ongoing commitment to develop the next generation of engineers. The Big Bang Fair takes place at ExCeL, London from 14 – 17 March 2013.

Renishaw will be exhibiting its range of advanced engineering technologies at Southern Manufacturing 2013, in Farnborough, UK from 13 – 14 February 2013. On show will be Renishaw's versatile gauge, Equator, which rapidly collects thousands of data points, which enables the comparative measurement of high volume manufactured parts.

Renishaw plc has revealed a wide range of initiatives, investments and future plans for its new Miskin site, located close to Cardiff, South Wales, which was formally opened on 10th October 2012 by The Rt Hon Carwyn Jones AM, First Minister of Wales.

LinACE is a heavy-duty absolute linear encoder that is designed for integration into hydraulic, pneumatic and electromechanical actuators as a feedback element for position or velocity. The system has an accuracy of ±5 µm and users can achieve full closed-loop control, significantly improving safety and performance. LinACE is a completely novel approach to linear position feedback which is designed and manufactured by Renishaw’s associate company RLS.
