Partnership with Renishaw makes a significant contribution to the success of JUSTEK Inc. - a motion control component manufacturer based in Korea. JUSTEK has developed a range of customisable Direct-Drive (DD) motors using Renishaw’s high performance optical position encoders, including the miniature ATOM RCDM rotary encoder system, for the FPD and semiconductor/electronics industries.

French technology company, IRELEC Alcen, based in Grenoble, manufactures optomechanical and robotics systems for synchrotron facilities worldwide. A synchrotron (a type of particle accelerator) is an extremely powerful source of X-rays, which is used for scientific research in fields such as materials physics, chemistry and molecular biology. One example of such a facility is the Diamond Light Source (DLS) in Oxfordshire, UK.

Haozhi Mechanical and Electrical (Haozhi), based in China, is a company focused on direct-drive technology for machine tool and robotics applications. Direct-Drive (DD) motors are electric motors that directly transmit power to the application without the use of mechanical reduction elements such as gears, pulleys, chains or belts. DD technology for linear motors and rotary tables has matured in recent years.

Renishaw has teamed up with the Bristol Music Trust charity to combine science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) and music education for children in Bristol, UK. As part of the collaboration, Renishaw is demonstrating the role that fun and creativity plays in engineering by supporting Beat Lab, an interactive music-tech initiative. The company is also supporting the Trust’s ‘Transform the Hall’ project by sponsoring an education room.

Showcasing its wide range of process control solutions for advanced manufacturing industries at MACH 2018 is precision engineering and manufacturing technologies company Renishaw. A high-productivity machining cell, featuring integrated process control, is on display at Renishaw’s main stand H19-430, to demonstrate how high levels of automation and connectivity can be incorporated into CNC machining operations to improve productivity levels and process capability.

Global engineering technology company, Renishaw, is recruiting for a record number of 50 apprentices across its Gloucestershire and South Wales sites. The company offers an award-winning scheme, where apprentices gain nationally recognised qualifications, some up to degree level, alongside on-the-job experience. Renishaw’s apprentices earn while they learn, benefitting from a competitive salary and benefits package.

A series of Girls into Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) engineering days have been hosted this year by Renishaw, mainly throughout June at the Renishaw Miskin site in South Wales. These three activity days for local school girls, on June 19th, 22nd and 29th, aimed to inspire the female engineers of the future with hands-on activities and provided an introduction to career opportunities in the sector.

  Global engineering technologies company, Renishaw, hosted a local Brownie group at its Miskin site in South Wales to help them earn a new badge in engineering. The Brownie group leader collaborated with Renishaw to give the members a project to design and engineer their own name badges for their uniforms. The girls took part in three sessions to earn their badge.

An education outreach programme that includes 139 recognised science, technology engineering and maths (STEM) ambassadors has been launched by engineering technology company, Renishaw. Apprentices, graduates and engineers at Renishaw volunteer to support and inspire young people, and offer practical advice from their own experiences. The aim is to encourage them to pursue career opportunities in an engineering or technology related career.

An extensive range of metrology and additive manufacturing systems will be showcased by Renishaw at EMO Hannover 2017 (September 18-23 2017). Intelligent machining processes are critical to companies that want to exploit the full benefits of Industry 4.0 and throughout its main stand Renishaw will demonstrate the power of integrating its latest measurement technologies within a manufacturing process.

Keeping in theme with this week’s celebrations, for International Women in Engineering Day, Lucy Ackland, Senior Development Engineer at Renishaw has been selected as one of the UK’s Top 50 Women in Engineering in 2017. The initiative is organised by The Daily Telegraph in partnership with the Women’s Engineering Society (WES) and employers in the industry. Results were announced today (23rd June 2017), coinciding with International Women in Engineering Day.

A 2017 software update is now available to QuantAM, Renishaw’s build file preparation software dedicated to its metal Additive Manufacturing (AM) systems with laser powder bed fusion technology. QuantAM software has an intuitive workflow and is easy to navigate. In four steps, from orientation to support; to layout and review, the user can import CAD data and create a machine ready, build file.

Showcasing its latest developments and highlighting the role that metal additive manufacturing plays in the manufacturing process chain, at fromnext, is Renishaw, which is taking place 15th-18th November, in Frankfurt Germany. Renishaw will exhibit in Hall 3.1, on stand F68. Highlights on the stand will include a Moto 2 motorcycle and the Robot Bike Co R160 bespoke mountain bike frame, one of the latest innovations to come out of Renishaw’s global network of Solutions Centres.

Capable of measuring all six degrees of freedom from a single set-up, in any orientation for linear axes, is the XM-60 multi-axis calibrator from Renishaw, which was exhibited at IMTS 2016, Chicago, USA and AMB 2016, Stuttgart, Germany. It offers significant improvement in simplicity and time saving over conventional laser measurement techniques.

A project that enables the widespread use of 3D printing to produce bespoke maxillofacial implants, Design-led Efficient Patient Treatment (ADEPT), has won the Health and Wellbeing category at The Engineer magazine’s Collaborate to Innovate Awards held on 7th September 2016. The collaborative project draws on the academic and industrial expertise of several UK partners, including global engineering and scientific technology company Renishaw.

Exhibiting its extensive range of metrology and additive manufacturing equipment at IMTS 2016 is Renishaw, at the event taking place 12th-17th September in Chicago, USA. Booth E-5509 will be home to the precision engineering technology company Renishaw and its visitors will also be able to see its new high productivity machining cell concept.

The TCT Show + Personalize this year will see engineering and technology company Renishaw exhibiting in Hall 3A, at stands F18 and F20, on 28th-29th September, at the NEC in Birmingham. Highlights on the stand include the RenAM 500M metal additive manufacturing system, designed and built in-house for the production of series parts, and Renishaw Additive Manufacturing Solutions Centres.

Opening the doors to its Gloucestershire headquarters, was engineering company Renishaw, to 108 school students for work experience in July 2016. The students took on a series of engineering projects to get a taste of what a career in the field entails. The Renishaw work experience programme aims to inspire more young people to consider STEM careers.

The first South Wales Greenpower event was hosted by engineering company Renishaw, at its Miskin site on 2nd July, 2016, which saw teams competing in the IET Formula Goblin category for primary school children. Greenpower racing events encourage young people to take an interest in engineering in a fun and innovative way by building and racing a fully functional electric car.
