Renishaw appoints new non-executive director

The Board of Renishaw plc is pleased to announce the appointment of John Jeans CBE CEng as a non-executive director with effect from 11 April 2013. In an industrial career spanning more than 35 years, John held senior leadership positions in several global companies including Smith & Nephew, Bristol Myers Squibb, Johnson & Johnson and Amersham plc (now GE Healthcare). His experience ranges from medical devices and pharmaceuticals to in-vivo and in-vitro diagnostics encompassing research, product development, manufacturing and commercialisation.
John is currently Chairman of the Council of Cardiff University and Imanova (an imaging research partnership between three London Universities and the Medical Research Council). In addition he chairs the Board of MRC Technology and is a non-executive director of the Alliance Medical Group. He is also a Board member of the University and College Employers Association.
As an advisor to several public sector organisations, John currently Chairs the Technology Strategy Board's stratified medicine advisory Board, is a Steering Board member of the HealthTech and Medicines Knowledge Transfer Network and an advisor to the University of Manchester's venture fund.
John will also become a member of Renishaw plc's Audit Committee, Remuneration Committee and Nomination Committee.
Commenting on the changes to the Board, Sir David McMurtry CBE RDI FRS FREng CEng FIMechE, Chairman and Chief Executive said:
“I am delighted to welcome John to the Board. With his extensive experience in the healthcare industry and in engineering technologies John will be a valuable addition to the Company's resources at board level.”
