Four J D Neuhaus EH 60 air operated monorail hoists supplied for offshore BOP handling have completed 12 months satisfactory operation to customer requirements and have also successfully passed their first annual inspection. These hoists were supplied and initially mounted in Norway by Westcon Løfteteknikk AS at the Westcon yard, and were designated for eventual location on the Seadrill West Epsilon rig, which is classified as DnV, + 1A1 self-elevating mobile offshore unit.

The emergency lowering device recently introduced by J D Neuhaus for their EH range of air operated hoists can now also be supplied as a standard feature on their Profi Ti line from 25 to 60 tonnes lift capacity.

Materials handling specialists J D Neuhaus have recently supplied a BOP handling system comprising four of their air operated monorail hoists. This featured a centralised pneumatic system providing common sensitive controls for all the lift and traverse movements of the hoists either as individual or paired hoists, or with all four hoist units operating together in common.

With nearly 270 years of experience in the design and manufacture of high performance handling and lifting equipment, the J D Neuhaus company has updated their ‘logo and slogan’ to a design which more closely represents their latest products, including new developments, designed for applications in some of the toughest markets and environments.

A purpose-designed BOP handling system comprising twin air-operated monorail hoists, with a joint lifting capacity of 200 tonnes has been supplied by J D Neuhaus. These hoists are a special compact design which has been developed to suit on-site operational requirements and each hoist represents a 45% reduction in the horizontal profile length compared to the JDN standard EH-100 product.

As part of an ongoing safety evaluation for all their products, J D Neuhaus have introduced an emergency lowering device for their EH range of air operated monorail hoists. With this feature JDN complies with the leading standards like NORSOK, specifying an emergency device for the safe lowering of loads in the event of a cut in the main power supply. This new device supplements an existing fail-safe disc brake, which is activated in the immediate event of a mains power failure, ensuring that suspended loads are held safely and securely at their above-floor level until mains power is again made available.

What is believed to be the world’s first air operated hoist with a lift capacity of 125 tonnes has been manufactured by materials handling and lifting specialists J D Neuhaus. This is the most powerful unit in their EH range of handling equipment.

The J D Neuhaus company will be showing some of their lifting and handling equipment at the Offshore Europe 2011 exhibition.

A J D Neuhaus hydraulically operated crane with 80 tonne lift capacity has been delivered for operation on the semisub rig Spitsbergen, designed and built by Aker Solutions for operation on the Norwegian continental shelf.

Air operated hoists supplied by Swindon Lifting from the J D Neuhaus Mini range have been successfully deployed on the Engine Block Machining Section by Honda of the UK Manufacturing Ltd (HUM), at their South Marston Plant in Swindon. Following an initial installation in this production area some five years ago, further hoists have been subsequently supplied.

J D Neuhaus air and hydraulic operated chain hoists have been used to solve difficult underwater lifting and pulling operations for many years. These products can be offered with pneumatic or hydraulic operation for the lift, lower and traverse operations, making them ideally suited for installation in hazardous or other potentially explosive environments.

J D Neuhaus manufacture a range of Ex rated handling equipment including hydraulically operated hoists and monorail hoists for safe operation within hazardous and explosion endangered areas.
