One of the recent additions to the J D Neuhaus range of air operated handling equipment is their Profi 025 Ti hoist unit, which is equipped as a Manipulator to facilitate single handed operation for load lifting, lowering, positioning and manual traversing (when used in conjunction with an overhead trolley). This unit has a lift capacity of 250kg at 6 bar air pressure, with a driving mechanism group M4 (1Am) designed for 800 hours operation at full load conditions.

Two new air operated hoists are being added to the Profi range manufactured by J D Neuhaus. Both hoists feature a new high-performance vane motor with a 2kW rating, which achieved ‘super-reliable’ results on 480 hours long-term test under full load conditions.

Profi Puller winches from the J D Neuhaus range now offer pulling power of up to 3500kg (previous limit was 3000kg). Their air operated winches fitted with 6kW rated motors not only have higher pulling power, but also higher rope speeds for faster rope pay-out and recovery times.

Some air operated monorail hoists from J D Neuhaus feature upgraded air motors and all models can be customised with additional accessories to suit specific industry challenges. Operating off a pneumatic air pressure of 85psi (6 bar), the hoists avoid the potential hazards and dangers associated with electrically powered equipment when operating within areas with high humidity or potentially explosive dusts or gases. With carrying capacities ranging from 10 to 115 tonnes, these hoists are suitable for a wide range of both general and specialised engineering applications including outdoor installations.

A J D Neuhaus air operated winch has been successfully deployed on the AWG/1 drilling rig operated by Nederlandse Aardolie Maatschappij BV (NAM) in the Dutch North Sea sector.

Twin Profi 2 Ti air-operated hoists from J D Neuhaus have been used to facilitate safe and efficient product discharge from big bag containers. A J D Neuhaus Profi puller winch has helped maintain electric power and water supplies for an American city. Routine maintenance procedures performed by the Salt River Project company, responsible for utility services for metropolitan Phoenix, Arizona, involved the efficient removal of a refurbished machine rotor from its’ protective packaging.

As well as hoists and cranes with load capacities up to 100 tonnes, J D Neuhaus Ltd are also able to offer a wide range of compact lifting equipment that is lightweight enough to provide portable material handling capabilities to comply with current safety and working practice regulations.

Available with immediate effect are upgrades to the 2.2 and 2.6kW Profi lifter and puller winches in the air powered range of J D Neuhaus handling equipment. All products in this range can now be supplied with the DN control pendants. These incorporate larger diameter hose feeds, capable of utilising the full airline flow and pressure (6 bar), to take advantage of the robust vane motor capacities. An approximate 30% increase in rope speeds can be achieved, without any adjustment required to the recommended load capacities. Where time taken on the lift/lowering procedures represents the major part of a handling process, then appreciable savings can result from higher production efficiencies without any compromise in operating safety.

An air operated hoist from J D Neuhaus has been used for the safe and successful handling of an assembled pipeline string of some 1000 metres in length. This involved the connection of individual pipeline sections, each eight metres long, to create a completed string weighing 30 tonnes which had to be positioned within a mining shaft.

The range of air powered hoists and handling equipment manufactured by J D Neuhaus are particularly suited to construction site operations. An air operated synchronised hoist has for several years been used to successfully help control the tidal flows of the river Ouse. Work undertaken by the Environment Agency for the repair and refurbishment of sluice gates has necessitated the periodic insertion and removal of replacement steel dam boards as an alternative method of water management. With eight boards used per dam and individual boards being .76 metres (2’-6”) deep by 13 metres long and weighing 4-5 tons, it represented no mean logistical feat when handling these awkward loads both efficiently and safely.
