Eaton is expanding its range of PowerXL DE1 variable speed starters with the DE11. In addition to providing the Modbus interface as standard and the option for SmartWire DT, the new product range from the power management company also offers an option to directly connect to CANopen. This immediately opens up many additional fields of application within mechanical engineering, and meets the ErP Directive simply, efficiently and cost-effectively. 

Eaton has launched its new DCF-3000 mechanically cleaned filter that provides a cost-effective filtration solution capable of processing highly viscous liquids in challenging conditions.

Eaton announced the XLM Supercapacitor Energy Storage Module designed to provide fast discharge for bridge events in uninterruptible power supplies (UPS) for mission critical applications where even brief downtime can have a major negative impact. The modules offer a highly reliable, green alternative to lead-acid-batteries and are designed to be maintenance free for grid storage and backup power applications. The XLM module can significantly lower the total cost of UPS ownership in cloud computing, data center, hospital UPS, semiconductor industry and other markets.

At this year’s SPS IPC Drives in Nuremberg, Eaton will showcase its latest innovations in machine protection, advanced connectivity, drive and interface solutions. Visitors will experience how these can help build intelligent machines and systems that are more reliable, safer and efficient while reducing time and cost across the entire manufacturing process. A central focus of the booth is an intelligent Hydraulic Power Unit (HPU) that runs three different electrical set-ups in parallel. Those coming to stand 371 in Hall 9 will have the opportunity to observe the different systems’ dynamics, compare energy efficiency values and evaluate the total cost of ownership.

Power management company Eaton has expanded its AxisPro product line to include a two-stage, D08 size design featuring valve position feedback on the pilot and main stage. The larger KBH servo-proportional valve helps simplify machine control for demanding applications including for instance injection and blow moulding, large presses, die casting and foundry, test and simulation and wood processing.

Eaton has launched new high performance DWF duplex lubrication oil filters to address the importance of system uptime. The high-flow filters are engineered for continuous operations and designed to preserve oil integrity while protecting expensive hydraulic pumps, motors and valves.

With its new generation of multifunctional electronic motor starter (EMS) with SmartWire-DT connectivity Eaton is helping the industry to increase machine availability and minimise downtime. This is achieved mainly through the advanced communication capability of the switching device. In combination with SmartWire-DT, Eaton’s innovative communication system for industrial switchgear and automation components, more relevant motor data is documented and communicated to the EMS than before. The decentralised intelligence opens up new possibilities for preventative maintenance and simplifies servicing. The reduced wiring and the communications capabilities of the SmartWire-DT device enables users to produce simple, cost-effective and compact machinery and systems which can be used to implement more stable manufacturing processes.

Discussing the impact of the Energy-related Products (ErP) directive on switchgear and protection systems for electric motors, Eaton has published a whitepaper: Motor protection for the IE3 revolution. Authored by Jan Nowak, Product Manager, Eaton, the whitepaper offers machine and system builders an insight into the repercussions of the directive on motor design as well as practical advice on what users should keep in mind when selecting protective devices.

Designed for subsea oil and gas applications, Eaton introduces the Synflex 33CH-08 high collapse resistant thermoplastic hose. The new hose features a liner tube made of polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF), which helps handle fluids with higher concentrations of acid and lowers permeability with methanol and other similar fluids. Typical applications for the 33CH-08 include for instance hydraulic flying leads, Installation/Intervention Work Over Control (IWOC) umbilical hoses, high flow rate applications and methanol injection.

Eaton has launched two new sizes of its BECO INTEGRA PLATE filtration system in response to customer demand. The system is now available in a small 200 mm and larger 1000 mm size, meaning that process managers in the fine chemical and pharmaceutical industries can scale their systems easily, from R&D laboratory applications through to higher batch volumes in commercial manufacturing processes.

Power management company Eaton has located the assembly and testing of its Char-Lynn Low Speed High Torque (LSHT) orbital motors in Havant, UK, and now offers lead times of as little as three weeks. 

A new electronic filter clogging indicator from Eaton is enabling users to minimize machinery downtime and improve their operational processes.  Early identification of increased contamination in hydraulic and lubrication oil is vital for preventing machinery failure, and the new VS5 clogging indicator uses a “traffic light” style of LED to denote the status of the filter element.  The visual indicator offers a simple and quick way to check the condition of the filter, allowing operators to make an informed decision about when to replace the filter element as part of their preventative maintenance strategy.

Eaton is merging its capabilities in the electrical and hydraulics space to offer machine and system builders variable speed drive (VSD) pump solutions that allow for improved machine performance and energy savings of up to 70 percent - depending on machine duty cycle. The fully integrated electro-hydraulic system is widely scalable. It comprises a broad range of vane and piston pumps, filters, frequency inverters, control and switch gear as well as Eaton’s innovative SmartWire-DT intelligent wiring technology. Suitable applications range from the machine tool sector to casting, steel or press applications, where users benefit from extended machine life by lowering heat generation and improved operator safety and comfort by reducing pump noise levels. 

Eaton has added a new IP67 I/O module to its innovative SmartWire-DT wiring system. This greatly extends the use of the system outside the control panel by allowing it to connect directly to sensors and actuators. As a result, system builders now have valuable new options that give them more freedom of choice and improved diagnostic capabilities in an IP67 system architecture.

Power management company Eaton addresses top concerns of industrial filtration users: safety and operating costs. Eaton’s new MAX-LOAD pleated filter bags help reduce maintenance, downtime and related costs while increasing operator safety by reducing the number of filter bag changeouts. This is due to the bag’s new pleated construction, which has four times more filter area than non-pleated bags. The new design significantly increases the dirt-holding capacity of the MAX-LOAD filter bag by up to ten times more than a similarly sized standard needle felt filter bag.

Eaton will showcase its latest generation of fully integrated electro-hydraulic solutions at Hannover Messe 2015 to enable machine builders to see how it is possible to deliver higher levels of accuracy, speed, energy efficiency, reliability and safety. Visitors to Hall 21, Stand F03, in the Motion, Drive & Automation section of the fair, will also get the chance to see Eaton’s latest hydraulics and filtration innovations, which focus on machine diagnostics and condition monitoring as well as increasing energy efficiency and reducing production costs.

Eaton has launched a new patent pending GH001 EverCool hose, which features nearly zero permeation and potential refrigerant gas loss. The unique air conditioning (A/C) hose was developed to provide maximum performance for a wide variety of refrigerants and refrigerant oils, and is ideal for use in mobile A/C and refrigeration applications within buses, trucks and other large commercial vehicles.  The core tube consists of a dual-extrusion veneer bonded to a second layer, minimising effusion while maximising oil and refrigerant compatibility.

Eaton today introduced its new CSM 02 multi-analysis system that helps users count particles and solid contamination in hydraulic and lubrication fluids to deliver reliable and efficient operations. The CSM 02 system also analyzes other important oil parameters, such as water saturation, temperature, viscosity and relative dielectric constant in stationary or mobile applications. Additionally it is ideal for analyzing foamed oils in large gearboxes and flushing test stands.

Due to the intense round-the-clock nature of Egypt’s short cane harvesting season, leading Egyptian company Sugar and Integrated Industries Company (SIIC) requires high performing and durable sugar cane loader vehicles that can operate at high speeds. The loaders previously used by SIIC were originally designed for operation in South Africa, which meant they were not ideal for Egyptian conditions where long distance travel between sugar cane farms and a rough terrain are common requirements.

Combining the simplicity of a conventional fixed-speed starter with the ability to vary the speed of the motor, Eaton has developed an innovative motor control option, the Variable Speed Starter (VSS). Eaton’s PowerXL DE1 products are the first VSSs to reach the market, and provide machine and system builders with a highly reliable, energy-efficient and cost-effective alternative for motor control.
