Eaton has developed an innovative new option for motor control – the Variable Speed Starter (VSS). The new VSS combines the simplicity of a conventional fixed-speed starter with ability to vary the speed of the motor. VSSs, of which Eaton’s new PowerXL DE1 products are the first to reach the market, provide machine and system builders with a highly reliable and cost-effective alternative for motor control that will be particularly useful for helping them to increase energy efficiency in applications where fixed-speed starters were previously used.

Eaton has launched the new E59 AccuProx series of high-performance analogue inductive proximity sensors which feature a particularly large sensing range. Using iProx technology, the sensors offer an extended linear sensing range of up to 25mm - up to four times greater distance than typical tubular inductive analogue sensors – without any loss in accuracy.

Eaton has launched its first multifunctional motor starter with integrated motor protection in a 30 mm mounting width for motors with ratings from 0.06 to 3 kW. The new EMS electronic motor starter combines DOL start, reversing start, motor protection and emergency stopping to category 3 (EN 13849-1) in a single switching device.

Eaton has announced the opening of its new Experience Centre in Manchester. The new training and experience facility has been set up to showcase Eaton’s latest power management solutions and to provide hands-on training by its experts.

Eaton announce the launch of its new Gromelle MLFF series stainless steel flat face couplings, offering dry break quick disconnection for hydraulic power transmission systems in challenging environments. The 316L stainless steel construction provides superior resistance to aggressive and corrosive environments in demanding applications such as oil and gas, steel mills and construction, increasing the reliability and extending the lifetime of the coupling.

Eaton introduce its new Gromelle Flat Face Connect Under Pressure quick disconnect coupling series for use in applications found in the construction, agricultural and other industrial sectors. Designed and manufactured in accordance with Article 3.3 of the European Pressure Equipment Directive 97/23 EC, the design for which Eaton applied a patent allows for connection under pressures of up to 350 bar (5075 PSI).

Savings in wiring time and cost are offered by new versions of the popular DS7 soft starters from Eaton’s Electrical Sector which now feature built-in interfaces for the revolutionary SmartWire-DT panel wiring system. This means that the new soft starters need no conventional control wiring, using instead convenient plug-in connections that not only save time and money, but also make wiring errors almost impossible.

Diversified industrial manufacturer Eaton today introduced a pressure reducing valve specifically designed for wind energy applications. The additional function of the 1 PDC5 pressure reducing valve is its ability to keep the pressure of an accumulator stored for a long period of time without any significant leakage. Its performance characteristics help improve the energy efficiency of the wind turbine’s hydraulic system.

Eaton’s Electrical Sector is expanding its range of ZEB electronic overload relays with the addition of the new 175A series. Like previous devices in the ZEB range, the 175A devices ensure motor protection for different starting characteristics such as CLASS 10A, 10, 20 and 30. Together with the electronic wide-range overload protection with a 5:1 ratio, the new series covers several standard bimetal relays.

Eaton today announced the full release of its new HP 30 Disc Valve Motor for both closed circuit and open circuit hydraulic applications. HP 30 has been designed to offer an excellent balance of high pressure and high flow along with features that unlock enhanced customer value.

To mark the launch of the latest edition of its pocket wiring manual, Eaton has announced a competition to find the oldest copy of the book still in existence. The new publication is the latest successor to the popular Klöckner Moeller and Moeller Electric Wiring Manuals, the first of which was published in German more than fifty years ago in 1958, and in English in 2005.
