Eaton Corporation recently announced it completed the acquisition Polimer Kauçuk Sanayi ve Pazarlama A.Ş., a Turkish manufacturer of hydraulic and industrial hose. Terms of the deal, which was announced February 24, 2012, were not disclosed. “This acquisition represents Eaton’s largest investment in Turkey to date,” said William VanArsdale, president of Eaton’s Hydraulics Group.

Nuisance tripping of its main incoming circuit breaker, a major problem for HG Timber, one of the UK’s leading manufacturers of timber pallets and warehouse decking, has been completely eliminated following a free on-site power factor correction survey carried out by Eaton’s Electrical Sector. The actions taken as a result of the survey have also made it possible for HG Timber to cut its energy bills by 20%, with a corresponding reduction in its carbon footprint of 62 tons of CO2.

Eaton’s Electrical Sector presented two new SmartWire-DT business partners at SPS/IPC/DRIVES 2011 in Nuremberg last week. Hilscher, a system automation company in Hattersheim and a leader in industrial communications systems, and Wöhner, a specialist in bus bar system technology, both signed cooperation agreements at the trade event and declared their intention to integrate Eaton’s SmartWire-DT interconnection and communication system in their products.

Eaton is delighted to announce that it was awarded Innovative Residential/Domestic Product of the Year at this year’s Electrical Industry Awards. Eaton’s Trading Standards and Policy Manager, Kevin Harris, also won the award for Outstanding Contribution to Electrical Excellence. The awards were presented at a ceremony held in London on 20th October, which coincidentally, was also the eve of Eaton Corporation’s 100 year anniversary.

With the introduction of six new input/output modules, Eaton’s Electrical Sector has further enhanced the versatility and convenience of its innovative SmartWire-DT communication system, which virtually eliminates the need for conventional control wiring in panels. Two of the new modules are for use with digital signals and three are for analogue signals. The sixth new module is a universal type that makes it easy for users to provide for future expansion of SmartWire-DT installations.

Fitting variable speed drives to motors is often put forward as a way of saving energy, and this idea appears to have influenced the wording of part of the European Ecodesign Directive. However, as Phil George of Eaton’s Electrical Sector explains, variable speed drives are not always the most energy efficient choice.

Eaton today announced details of the product and packaging changes it is making to finalise integration of The Moeller Group, which it acquired in 2008. From 1st July 2011, the Moeller logo will start to be replaced by the Eaton logo on all products and packaging. These changes will flow through the supply chain throughout 2011 with a target completion date of 1st January 2012.

Thanks to an integrated microprocessor and the unique Smart SenseTM technology, each iProx sensor has a large detection range and intelligence that can be adapted to each application. Eaton Corporation today announced availability of a new series of compact piston-type open circuit pumps incorporating the latest technology for moderate flow, high-pressure applications. The new 620 Series is rated at 280 bar and 2,200 rpm with a displacement of 98 cc (6.0 in3)/revolution, making it an ideal choice for a variety of mobile and stationary applications including wheel loaders, motor graders, concrete equipment, salt and sand spreaders, vacuum trucks, telehandlers, refuse trucks, rail maintenance, forestry equipment, and drill rigs. Planned future models in the 620 Series will include displacements of 65 cc (4.0 in3), 74 cc (4.5 in3), and 120 cc (7.3 in3) per revolution.

A hydraulic power head that is attached to the boom of an excavator that is designed to perform such tasks as foundation drilling, screw anchoring and core barrelling typically has multiple hose connections and case drains. Such configurations make them difficult to attach and set-up in the field. They also require the operator to modulate the excavator’s hydraulic output to keep it within the typical 250 l/pm capacity common in these power head units.

Additional EMC filtering options, configurable analogue inputs and enhanced fieldbus connectivity are among the many new features that have been added to the latest M-MAX variable speed drives from Eaton’s Electrical Sector, which are available with ratings up to 7.5kW.
