There has been a lot of discussion recently in the press and on-line about RCBOs and, in particular, about the separate earth connection that is used by some of these devices. Unfortunately, a lot of the information that has appeared has been misleading and, in some cases, it is simply wrong. Given that the recent introduction of the 17th Edition of the IEE Wiring Regulations is resulting in a big increase in the usage of RCBOs, it is important to clarify the situation.

A new 4-spiral wire hydraulic hose that matches the performance of 6-wire hose alternatives has been introduced by Eaton Hydraulics Group to its Aeroquip range. Benefits offered by the new hose are lighter weight, greater flexibility permitting easier installation, reduced space requirement and lower cost compared to a 6SP hose.

Diversified industrial manufacturer Eaton Corporation announced today that it has added a new Series 760 variable displacement closed circuit piston-type pump and fixed motor to its heavy-duty product offering. Intended primarily for mobile vehicle applications, the new pumps and motors are available with displacements of 130cc/rev at 3200 rpm operating speed, and 160cc/rev at 2950 rpm operating speed. Working pressure for both displacements is 430 bar, with a high pressure relief setting of 465 bar for the pump. Both pumps and motors have a SAE D-flange mount.

A new range of manual lever hydraulic valves (MLV9) has been added to its Vickers screw-in cartridge valves (SICVs) by Eaton Hydraulics Group. Intended for both mobile and stationary industrial applications at pressures up to 210 bar (3,000 psi), the new valves are designed to be integrated easily into custom manifold blocks, or manifold circuit designs (MCDs) that combine multiple cartridge valves in a common manifold block.

Small enough to fit comfortably on a desktop, the new vacuum packaging machine produced by Multi-Mix, an expert in the mixing and packaging of inks for the printing industry, is probably as fast and versatile as the much larger floor standing machines that have traditionally been used for this task.

There’s a bit more to choosing contactors for use in power factor correction systems than might at first be apparent, says Steve Rickard of Moeller Electric.
