  Flintec’s well known RC3 compression load cell has been redeveloped, providing customers with a modern alternative. The RC3 and RC3D are compact, robust, compression load cells manufactured from high grade stainless steel and hermetically sealed for reliable performance in the harshest environments.

Loading bay equipment has been installed into a major distribution centre in Scotland, which includes dock levellers - from sara LBS as part of a project to upgrade facilities. The project is intended to double storage capacity and improve the flow of traffic through the area.

The possibility of using the some of the world’s harshest landscapes to produce food, fresh water and clean energy is definitely possible and is proven with the recent opening of the Sahara Forest Project (SFP) launch station outside Aqaba, the Jordan port city. Last month, Jordan’s King Abdullah II and Norway’s Crown Prince Haakon attended the ceremony to mark the official opening of the SFP which began in 2012 and is part funded by the EU and the Norwegian government.

As part of a total renovation of Keadby Pumping Station, ECS Engineering Services has replaced and uprated a large span automatic weed screen cleaner at the site to increase flood resilience for the Environment Agency.

The already established PC2H and PC3H are now being complemented with Flintec’s launch of three new dynamic load cells, designed for use in vehicle and machine mounted lifting hoists. The PC5H, PC6H and PC7H have been created to help installers fit load cells to new or existing applications where space is a limiting factor.

  Crane and hoist manufacturer, Street Crane, has supplied and installed overhead cranes at Fanuc UK’s new 107,000ft2 purpose-built headquarters at Ansty Park in Coventry. Fanuc builds around 6,000 robots, 125,000 servomotors, 84,000 servo amplifiers, and 25,000 CNC controllers every month to serve the wave of demand within manufacturing for ‘fourth industrial revolution’ technology.

An innovative, high performance surface scum removal system for use in activated sludge processes that uses a collector arm to direct the scum towards a dipper has been developed by A&J Fabtech. Removed continually in small batches, scum presents few problems in sludge processing operations. However, if it is allowed to build up it can become an issue. There are several existing procedures for dealing with scum, although there is room for improvement in them all.
