The new induction heating equipment plant of Belgian company INDUCTOTHERM are seeing VERLINDE hoists being installed to back up the latter´s seven overhead cranes and two semi-gantry cranes. INDUCTOTHERM EQUIPMENT BELGIUM, is a member of the international Inductotherm group and has been since1985. The company specialises in the design, manufacture and commissioning of induction heating equipment for use in the steel industry. The company delivers between 20 and 30 metal induction heating installations annually.

Cubis Systems, a manufacturer of access chambers, has provided inspection chamber units to the newly opened Queensferry Crossing Bridge in Scotland. The project, which is now the primary route across the Firth of Forth, required access chambers that could meet the time, budget and safety constraints. The Queensferry Crossing Bridge is the biggest infrastructure project in Scotland for a generation and is the longest three-tower, cable-stayed bridge in the world. 

The Nkana site of Mopani Copper Mines in Zambia has had parking brakes for use on mine hoists supplied by Twiflex, part of Altra Industrial Motion. Nkana is one of the largest copper and cobalt mines in Africa, with four underground mines, as well as an open pit.

When Tottenham Hotspur move into their new stadium next year, they will be the owners of what is believed to be the world’s first dividing retractable pitch. Due to the company’s experience, Sheffield engineering company SCX has been selected as the retractable pitch supplier.

  The latest single rail positioning stage H-gantry design from H2W Technologies design is an open frame XY positioning system. It has two bottom parallel axes with one cross axis connecting the two (H-gantry).

Nowadays an increasing number of crane technology companies rely on modern cable guidance with energy chains. With the new guidefast control system, igus has now developed an energy supply system that can also feed a manual overhead crane pendant on indoor cranes. Quick and easy to assemble, the guidefast control needs only a small installation space and can be adapted to suit almost any crane application.

  The ongoing regeneration of Slough town centre has stepped it up to the next level as Barnshaws Section Benders has provided curved steel to support The Curve, the new cultural and learning centre: a project delivered by Slough Urban Renewal on behalf of Slough Borough Council.

Peakirk pumping station on the River Welland has received a full renovation from ECS Engineering Services, on behalf of the Environment Agency, which will significantly boost the effectiveness of flood defences in the area. Work carried out has included the refurbishment of the station’s pointing doors; the installation of an adjustable stoplog and automated weed screen; a renovation of the pumping station plus an inspection and overhaul of existing pumps on-site.

The decommissioning of the former Dounreay nuclear plant in northern Scotland will feature, as a key part of the project, a crane designed, manufactured, tested and installed by Sheffield engineering specialists SCX Special Project.
