Spelsberg thermostats can protect your pipes from costly frost damage
The last few years have been uncharacteristically cold, with heavy frost and sub-zero temperatures typical throughout January, February and even into March, which has meant that frost damage to pipes has been a problem for many industrial sites and processing plants. Fortunately Spelsberg’s HT range of Thermostats provides quick and simple protection whatever the weather.
When specifying thermostats for industrial processing applications it is important that protection from the surrounding environment is considered as well as the accuracy of the thermostat. Specifying a separate enclosure that will fit the application, correctly house the thermostat, and offer the correct degree of thermal and ingress protection can be time consuming and costly. Installing the thermostats correctly to ensure all protection is maintained is also a precision job that, if done incorrectly, could lead to catastrophic failures.

Fortunately the HT range of thermostats from Spelsberg, Europe’s leading manufacturer of non-metallic electrical enclosures, completely removes the specification costs and assembly pitfalls as a tough, mechanically adjustable thermostat is pre-assembled in one of the company’s industry leading IP66 TK enclosures. A complete range is available with operating temperature controls ranging from 0-40°C, 30-120°C, 35-210 and 50-320°C making them suitable for many applications outside of frost protection as well.

Chris Lloyd, General Manager for Spelsberg UK, comments: “Now that winter’s here we have started to receive a lot of enquiries about our thermostats from companies who had problems with frozen pipes last year. It’s not surprising that they are looking into preventative solutions when you weigh up the cost and inconvenience of downtime caused by damaged pipes compared to installing a simple trace heating system.

The thermostats are reliable and fully protected in the TK enclosure with a clamping cable gland used to protect the seal through which the probe enters. They are fully assembled in-house and upon delivery simply need to be integrated into the trace heating system and an active frost protection solution is provided.”
