Level Switch for Hazardous Areas
For applications in gaseous and dusty surroundings, Baumer offers its FlexLevel Switch 4401 in various ATEX versions. They enable a safe level detection in hazardous areas. The ATEX certifications cover the zones 0, 1 and 2 as well as the zones 20, 21 and 22. The FlexLevel Switch can be easily configured on PC via the FlexProgrammer 9701. When used with a cooling neck, the switch is suitable for process temperatures from -40°C to up to 200 °C.
Explosive gas or dust mixtures can appear in many industrial applications, e. g. in the chemical, pharmaceutical and even the food industry. All FlexLevel Switch versions are available with the following ATEX approvals: Ex ia for gas applications in zone 0, 1 or 2, if protected by a zener barrier; Ex tD for dust applications in zone 20, 21 or 22 (for use without zener protection even in zone 20 applications); and Ex nA for gas applications in zone 2 without use of zener barrier protection.

All wetted parts are made of FDA-approved acid-proof stainless steel or PEEK thermoplastic. The FlexLevel Switch complies with the EHEDG demands and 3A approval. For the use in open or closed tanks, the device withstands a pressure of up to 40 bar. Since the switch does not contain any moveable parts and its electronic unit is completely integrated, it is practically maintenance-free. A bright blue light on top of the switch shows when a media is detected. The indication can be seen easily even if the sensor is mounted on top of a tank.
