Global supply chain specialists – STAG Group – has announced continued long-term availability of STEVI instrumentation by purchase of manufacturing rights for these products from Atlantic Inertial Systems (formerly BAE Systems Inertial Products, Plymouth). STEVI – Sperry Turbine Engine Vibration Indicator – instruments continue to be used for propeller condition management on Transall military transports and Dassault ATL 1&2 maritime reconnaissance aircraft in the European theatre. As with many other established products the anticipated service life is put in the region of at least a further 10 years.

Measurement Specialties has introduced the new Model 1210 Sub PSI designed specifically for low pressure applications requiring high output and stability. These sensors are temperature compensated and operate using a constant current supply. Offered in 5 & 10 inches H2O ranges (12.5mB & 25mB), these newly designed ceramic barbed ports are rugged and make secure pressure connections to 3/32 inch (2.4mm) ID hosing. The ceramic ports are available with matching port volumes that minimize errors in flow measurements.

Measurement Specialties has released to production two new PE accelerometers for shock and vibration measurement. Models 7500A and 7501A feature welded construction and wide bandwidth to >15kHz. These hermetic devices offer outputs from 5.6pC/g to 20pC/g with operating temperatures from -73°C to +260°C.

Sherborne Sensors has announced the North American launch of Series T435, a single axis, high-precision, closed loop gravity referenced servo inclinometer family, designed for down-hole logging applications, or for use in areas where space is at a premium. With a form factor measuring only 1.6 in. (40.6mm) high and less than 1.46 in. (37mm) in diameter, sensors can be stacked for simultaneous X & Y measurement of tilt angles.

Gems Sensors & Controls announces the launch of the new 3300 series pressure transducer. The 3300 series transducer is designed for low pressure applications that demand small size and low cost along with high accuracy and stability. The 3300 Series pressure transducer is well suited to applications such as chemical sterilizers, autoclaves, pneumatics, HVAC&R, pumps & compressors.

Micronor’s MR318 fiber optic rotary encoder is designed specifically for use as feedback in motion control systems operating in extreme electromagnetic fields. The sensor's passive optical design and non-metallic construction has no affect on MRI or NMR system operation or measurements. The multiturn encoder system offers 360ppr (1°) resolution and measures both angular position and shaft speed. MRI-related applications include feedback for actuator or motor control, monitoring patient position or correlating foot pedal position for fMRI diagnostics.

Sensor Development Inc's model 01251 (IRT), now allows torque measurement signals to be processed in three different ways. The sensor output can be configured as frequency, analog or a 4-20 MA current loop. Signal filter response and output level signals are also adjustable under computer control. A Graphical User Interface Program is provided to allow rapid setting of the sensors parameters. These are high performance, non-contact sensors that utilize digital infrared telemetry to transmit the torque signal in dynamometer systems without the use of slip rings or rotary transformer systems.

Inmoco’s new Mercury II 1900 analogue encoder from MicroE Systems opens up new application possibilities by enabling smaller, lighter equipment designs that deliver higher speed (up to 7.2m/s) and greater throughput. The Mercury II 1900 provides industry leading- resolution (5 micrometer) to 1.2nm, depending on customer electronics) and accuracy (= to micrometer to = to micrometer), unmatched versatility and easy installation. It integrates a miniaturised sensor – which fits where others won’t - and offers the flexibility for use with cut-to-length tape scales for easy customisation and installation, or glass scales for the highest accuracy applications (= to micrometer).

A new range of ready-to-mount pressure sensor modules for OEMs is now available that customers can integrate into their machine designs and instrumentation, including equipment that needs to be ATEX-certified for hazardous environments.
