Nexen Group has announced the release of the ZSE brake family, zero-backlash spring engaged brakes. Suitable for holding applications, the pneumatically-released ZSE brake offers high torque, high speed and zero backlash. Unlike brakes using leaf springs to transmit torque, the ZSE brake is zero-backlash up to 100% of its rated holding torque.
Nexen has released four different sizes (450, 600, 800, 1000) for a wide variety of applications. The bore sizes are available in three standard sizes, and can be easily customised for customer needs.
In addition, Nexen offers an option to configure the ZSE brake with a smart feature. The ZSES brakes are available with internal sensors, making them suitable for Industry 4.0 compatibility. These sensors detect the disengagement status and internal unit temperature and provide feedback and data to maximise machine safety and efficiency.
Applications for Nexen’s ZSE brake family include conveyor systems, robotic arms, trunnion tables, positioning indexers and standard through shaft setups in a wide variety of industries.
Apart from industrial brakes, Nexen produces roller pinion systems, clutches, torque limiters, overload protection devices and control systems. The company holds 120US and international patents.
