New linked carriage positioner for format changes

In fact, with current systems, format (bottles, flasks and relative packaging) changes in a handling line require a series of manual procedures, sometimes involving the use of jigs, which are rather complicated and time-consuming since they entail a work stoppage lasting from 10 to 60 minutes every time.
In such a situation two people often have to be involved and every time slight adjustments are made, productivity decreases and there are safety risks. The automation of these machines therefore has a weak point and this inefficiency lies in the format changes.

With Bett Sistemi’s new linked carriage positioner, format changes become extremely quick (30 seconds) and safe, whether they are carried out manually, using the crank or handwheel, or by means of a special gear motor, controlled by a PC. With the PC there is no limit to the number of formats, and everything is run and programmed using specific Bett Sistemi software.

The new linked carriage positioner’s main feature is the option it offers to cut off individual carriages and allow all the others to meet up or separate, while ensuring they all keep the same pitch (min. 70, max 125 = adjustment field 55 mm). The carriage block can move axially.

Thanks to this new product’s high level of modularity, positioners can be produced measuring up to 6 metres in length with as many as 36 carriages, broadening the designer’s horizons hugely and speeding up the ‘slow part’ of the automatic machine and the system.

The main feature of the “pantograph” format changes is its low cost since is performs fewer functions with respect to other format changes and the distance between carriages ranges from 45 to 140 mm. The adjustment field is 100mm.

The new Bett Sistemi positioners, conceived to resolve the format change problems of bundling machines, are also suited to other fields of use: the channelling of products on boxing machines, deboxing machines, carton cutting machines, cardboard packing machines, wrap-a-rounds, robots, bottle-packers and tray-wrappers and other industrial applications.
