Mixing Reliability Enhanced With Chemineer’s New Mechanical Seal
Mixing specialist Chemineer has introduced a new Advanced Mechanical Seal, which is designed with very large radial clearances to ensure that the seal can withstand the large shaft movements that occur in many mixing applications.
Although mixers in the Chemineer range can be fitted with mechanical seals from all major worldwide manufacturers, the Derby-based company’s new robust modular (hydraulically balanced) face-design seal ensures optimum fluid film in operation.

Available in a wide range of elastomer options, Chemineer’s Advanced Mechanical Seal (in single and double seal options) benefits from standardisation, the use of common housings and Resin Impregnated Carbon/Silicon Carbide faces that allow seals to be built in several configurations.

Two ‘O’ rings seal the mixer shaft to the sleeve to prevent dirt trapping between the sleeve and the shaft, as well as stopping extrusion under vacuum. Drive screws clamp directly on to the shaft and are arranged to minimise drive loss and eliminate deformation of the seal sleeve.
