Fast and flame resistance in new snap-in grommets

Due to customer demand, Optimas has extended its range of TST Snap-In protection grommets to further service end user applications. The demand highlighted the need for increased versatility from the range. End users of these innovative cable entry solutions will now be able to benefit from specialised flame resistant and multi-cable entry protection options.

Offering a viable alternative to cable glands, the TST Snap-In protection grommet range is designed to support a wide variety of applications. Material choices include rubber, TPE, EPDM and silicone - with sealing rated up to IP67. Industries supported include automotive - with the EPDM variant - and lighting, as well as general industrial applications - enabled by the TPE material option.

The entire range can be installed without the use of tools and is designed to support a wide variety of cable sizes. Increased temperature and chemical resistance can be specified depending on material choice for more demanding applications. A low profile option is available, with many of the grommets also suitable for dual use as blind plugs. The competency of the product has seen it become a popular choice for end users, offering a secure option for housing cables through unthreaded holes.

Further specialisation
Now, Optimas is offering the TST Snap-In protection grommet range with additional options. Specifiers can now select a multi-hole version, the TSS Multi, which can effectively secure three cables within the same component. This allows more integrated cable protection, while also safely consolidating multiple cables. All variants are available in TPE and feature IP67 protection classification.

Furthermore, the standard grommet range has also benefitted from the introduction of the V0 designation, which offers high flammability rating, constituting a perfect selection for application areas which present a potential fire hazard. Variants include the TSS PG V0, TSS Metric V0 and the TS Multi V0 - the latter of which combines increased flammability rating with multiple cable apertures. All V0 grommets offer IP67 protection and an advanced TPE construction which delivers flame resistance.

Each new feature has been driven by customer recommendations, so Optimas has reacted to demand and provided specialised solutions to meet required engineering standards.

Optimas works directly with end users to define optimum components for specific applications, ensuring informed purchasing decisions.

Furthermore, the business offers full supply chain management solutions, allowing customers to strengthen their supply chain and ease implementation paths. This equates to a full turnkey component supply service.

Liam Marriott, Technical Manager for Optimas’ Components Division, commented: “The extension of the TST Snap-In protection grommet range illustrates our commitment to providing specialised components to customer requirements. By gauging the demands of our end users through regular dialogue, we can offer a constantly evolving and dynamic component range, which is applicable to almost any industrial or commercial sector. This increased versatility means we can effectively service applications to engineering requirement with increased ease.”
