Entering the world of passive components

Würth Elektronik has published its ‘Passive Components 2017’ product catalogue. Numerous products are presented on the 776 pages in the categories EMC Components, Power Magnetics, Signal and Communications and AEC-Q qualified products.

The new edition of the product catalogue shows a whole series of additional components and extended product families. The most important new products include the WE-CMB HV current-compensated mains choke for higher AC voltage ranges up to 760V. It features a rated voltage three times higher than that of the existing WE-CMB series.

The new WE-TPB HV series of 3-phase current-compensated mains chokes was also developed for this voltage range. It excels by virtue of an innovative, patented design for plastic housing, separator and grid plate. Typical application areas include frequency converters and high power charging stations.

The WE-CFWI series of coupled storage inductors with flat wire windings has two new packages with inductance values up to 10μH. These coupled storage inductors are used with SEPIC and CUK switching controllers for which higher currents are required. Other highly interesting inductor innovations: the WE-KI HC ceramic high current inductor for high frequency applications, as used in the telecommunications sector for instance.

The new series includes the two packages 0402 and 0603. The WE-PMMI metal alloy multilayer SMD storage inductor demonstrates Würth Elektronik eiSos’ confidence in working with new materials. Double-printed silver layers have led to a 75% reduction in DC resistance. A new method of coating with metal alloy nanoparticles helps achieve outstanding performance, as well as a voltage stability of 100VDC.
