Dished washers, or ‘Belleville washers’ being the established generic term named after the inventor Louis Belleville, have a visual similarity to genuine DIN 2093 disc springs, but they do not possess the same engineering qualities. Since there is no pre-setting process, initial overall height dimensions are greater to compensate for loss of height during the first few spring deflections. In addition, stamped parts in excess of 1.25mm thick can suffer upper edge fractures leading to eventual failure.
