ZF Industrial's Servoplan® PG precision grade planetary gearboxes are available in the UK from Heason Technology Limited. Aimed at demanding servomotor drive applications, with ratios between 3:1 and 100:1 and output torques from 25 to 3000 Nm, the low backlash German manufactured range is fully interchangeable with other major brand servo gearboxes. The modular design allows a wide choice of mounting and output shaft configurations as well as assembly to almost all brushed and brushless servomotors - including Heason's own AKM series from Danaher.

During a recent service two thickener drives at the Scottish Water sewage treatment works in Glendevon were deemed to be obsolete. The costs of either repairing or replacing the drives would be extremely high as replacing the drives would require lengthy downtime and a repair job would be inefficient. Fortunately Brevini, working closely with Brammer Plc. a provider of industrial services, was able to deliver a no-engineering solution which would fit on the existing structure and provide the plant with high energy efficiency.

To meet the specific motion control needs of high voltage systems Huco Dynatork is exporting its expertise to Japan. Its customer specialises in the design and manufacture of high voltage capacitors, one application for which is in an electronic assembly for plasma screens. A miniature misalignment coupling is also part of this assembly but because standard materials of manufacture are unsuitable for this high voltage application the capacitor manufacturer turned to Huco Dynatork in the UK for a solution.

Ruland offers miniature disc couplings both in single and double disc styles. Disc couplings are high performance motion control couplings with zero-backlash, excellent speed capabilities up to 10,000 rpm, strength and torsional stiffness characteristics, as well as low inertia for today’s highly responsive systems. Disc couplings are often used in servomotor and lead screw applications. In addition, two single disc couplings are often used in tandem when greater misalignment or a longer distance is required such as on gantry systems.
