Increased Threading Security Delivered By New Geometry
According to Sandvik Coromant, the manufacturing industry is about to see the launch of increased threading security. With the addition of new C geometry chip forming inserts to the established CoroThread® 266 programme it is now possible to maximize chip control and enable more continuous unsupervised machining.
Available in size 16 mm, the new high precision, rigid inserts feature a chip former near the tip that helps steer and control the chip to offer high security machining. This is particularly useful for internal threading where efficient chip evacuation is vital for successful continuous machining.

It is well documented that the method of in-feed has a direct influence on threading performance, particularly chip control and thread quality. As a consequence, the chip former on the new inserts functions with 1° modified flank in-feed, where the insert approach is angled slightly to avoid the edge rubbing on the component surface.

Sandvik Coromant’s new CoroThread 266 C geometry inserts are available in grades in GC1125 for external threading and GC1135 for internal threading.
