Clear and durable displays for fire alarm systems with Autotex film
MacDermid Autotype has supplied its latest polyester film technology to Minimax for use in its FMZ 5000 central fire alarm system, which offers superior fire detection and automatic fire extinguishing. The innovative film is providing a combination of optical clarity and scratch resistance, making the alarm systems simple to use and extremely durable.
Fire can break out anywhere and at any time; the crucial factor is how fast it is detected and extinguished. That is why central fire alarm systems are increasingly being installed in buildings at particular risk, such as airports, stations, schools, universities, offices, old people's homes and hospitals. The advantage of such systems is that fires are detected as early as possible, even when no one is on site, and can be extinguished as soon as they start.

Minimax is a leading supplier of complete fire protection systems, headquartered in Bad Oldesloe, Germany. The company’s FMZ 5000 central fire alarm system incorporates state-of-the-art software and innovative control concepts, meeting all of the necessary industrial standards and offering users an intuitive interface. When looking for an overlay film for the system’s display, Minimax chose Autotex from MacDermid Autotype.

André Lickefett, Manager of the BMA Product Line at Minimax, explained, Central fire alarm systems are essential elements of responsible safety management. They have to work perfectly even after being on standby for many years. We felt that Autotex was the ideal film for this application as it offered both optical clarity and long service life.”

The large full-graphics display of the FMZ 5000 ensures fire fighters have access to comprehensive information and can be used quickly and easily. The membrane touch keypad of the display, which is manufactured by EP Electronic Print, incorporates the innovative Autotex film.

Autotex is a high quality film consisting of a polyester base and a flexible, chemically bonded, textured coating. The film is extremely durable and scratch resistant thanks to its hard coated layer and offers a clear and uniform finish that ensures the display is easy to read in a variety of light conditions.

André Lickefett concluded, In MacDermid Autotype, we have found the right partner when it comes to meeting the technical and economic requirements of our customers in the best possible way.
