New hardcoat film from MacDermid Autotype offers stainless finish for keyboards and graphic panels
MacDermid Autotype has launched an innovative new hardcoated polyester film for producing stainless steel effects for membrane keyboards, keypads and fascia panels. Called Autotex Steel, the new film is easy to handle and print, combining high levels of colour reproduction and definition with a tough outer surface that offers excellent resistance to abrasions and a wide range of chemicals and solvents.

Omega Ultra polyester plates open up new era of printing at Granada University’s Faculty of Fine Arts
Omega Ultra polyester printing plates, manufactured by MacDermid Autotype, and originally developed as a low cost CTP solution for single and spot colour litho printing, have found a new application in the field of fine art printing. Use of these plates has been pioneered by the Faculty of Fine Arts at the University of Granada in Spain, where Omega Ultra is now being used to replace traditional metal and stone plate making processes, eliminating the need for toxic chemicals and giving artists greater flexibility and freedom of expression.

MacDermid Autotype has won the prestigious British Safety Council International Safety Award for the forth year running, and a record 11th time in total. The award recognises the company’s excellent safety record in 2007, and in particular the fact that it had an extremely low accident incident rate, which was an impressive 50% better than the industry standard – something that few companies have achieved.

Hoffmann + Krippner has developed a special customer-specific application for SATO in Mönchengladbach, Germany, using its new GT switch dome technology and Autotex overlay film from MacDermid Autotype. SATO are one of the leading manufacturers of high precision cutting machines and H + K’s aim was to develop a clear and simple-to-use menu guidance system for programming the advanced operating unit of a plasma cutting machine, equipping this interface with large tactile membrane switches for all of the machine functions.

MacDermid Autotype has launched a hard coated polyester film specially designed to offer antimicrobial protection for hospital surfaces. The new film, called SIGMAGraF Shield AM, combines Microban® antimicrobial technology with industrial-strength protection against solvents and cleaning chemicals. In addition, SIGMAGraF Shield AM can provide impact and abrasion resistance above ordinary laminates, ensuring that all surfaces and signage remain protected for both patients and staff at all times.
