Announcing the new 3/8” Avdel® Monobolt® Rivet and 07287 Series Installation Equipment

The fastener works along the same principles as the 6.4 mm and 4.8 mm Monobolt® rivet, one of Avdel’s most prestigious product lines. With a grip range between 3.1 and 15.8 mm, the 3/8’’ Monobolt® rivet is a truly versatile and reliable extension to the Monobolt® fastener range. To further enhance the benefits of the 3/8’’ Monobolt® fastener, a new installation tool has been specially developed to greatly improve the combination of power and speed. This new tool will be referred to as the ‘07287’ series tool although it requires an official name as well. We welcome guests to the 2008 Fastening Assembly & Solutions Exhibition in October to visit the Avdel stand and submit their proposals for the new name.

All entries will be collated and considered by Avdel and a prize will be awarded to any chosen suggestion. The 07287 tool’s key feature is its ability to place large heavy duty rivets with just one press of the trigger. The extended stroke of 29 mm on the 07287 tool enables this single pull action as opposed to the two pull action necessary with many other tools on the market. Ilja Suchan, Avdel Marketing Manager, believes “Many other tools on the market are lacking the necessary power to install heavy duty fasteners in a single stroke which can compromise assembly times”. The 07287 is hydro-pneumatic with a cycle time of just 1.7 seconds, 40% less than many of the rival tools on the market, making it the ideal tool for use in either batch production or on a flow line assembly.

In many applications, the reduced cycle time can offer significant labour cost savings and increased assembly capacity due to better output. The 07287 places not only the new 3/8” Monobolt® rivet but also a wide variety of the Avdel® fastener range, including the unique Avseal® II sealing plugs, as well as Avdelok®, Avtainer® and Maxlok® lockbolts. The 07287 has been designed as a big brother to the successful Titan tool and uses the same nose equipment and many of the same components, giving the tool adaptability and Page 1 of 3 allowing for easy repair and good availability of spares. To increase operator comfort, the pistol weight has been kept as light as possible weighing under 2.5 kg. With a 3 m long hose the 07287 has the line side flexibility that many other tools cannot offer.
