NEPCON China Success Leads to Positive Industry Outlook

Reed Exhibitions announces that NEPCON China 2010 saw a 5.7 percent increase in attendees over last year. The exhibition took place April 20-22, 2010 at the Shanghai Everbright Convention and Exhibition Center.
Nearly 500 leading electronics manufacturing manufacturers exhibited at the event, including Agilent, Assembléon, Siemens, Sony, Hitachi, Samsung, Panasonic, Fuji and WKK. The event was held in conjunction with the inaugural Green Lighting Shanghai Expo and Forum 2010. Together, the shows drew 14,310 buyers and visitors.

Several companies used the show as a platform to launch products into Asia, and even the world. Representatives from leading companies like Siemens, Sony, Panasonic, Samsung, Fuji and WKK declared that this year’s event saw a great increase in the number and quality of visitors with decision-making power.

Yeung Chuen Hau, General Manager of WKK China Ltd., commented, “As the largest and the most influential event in Chinese electronics manufacturing and the SMT industry, NEPCON created abundant opportunities for us to develop our business. This year we noticed a significant increase in the number and quality of visitors, especially in terms of buyers. We hope to continue to be close partners with NEPCON in the long term.”

Josephine Lee, Vice President of Reed Exhibitions East China, remarked that the size of the exhibiting companies as well as the number and quality of visitors was testament to the fact that China’s electronics manufacturing and SMT industries are regaining their vitality. In the wake of the global financial crisis, companies in the industry must continue to innovate to keep up with the market.

“We were pleased with the quality of visitors at NEPCON China 2010. We got to know many potential buyers and secured several orders onsite. It is remarkable how NEPCON continues to look for new market opportunities and explore new fields for us,” said Yorihisa Okamoto, Director and General Manager of Tokyo Juki International Trading (Shanghai). Co., Ltd. “This year’s event also attracted visitors and buyers from the novel light and energy sources lighting industry. This meant more customers from new markets. The three-day exhibition is a testament to the ongoing recovery of the Chinese economy.”

In a post-show poll, 95 percent of visitors agreed that the event was fully representative of the industry. Additionally, all visitors polled expressed an interested in attending NEPCON China again next year.

In addition to purchasing equipment and gaining insight into the latest market trends, more than 1,500 visitors took part in various onsite activities, including the 25th Anniversary of SMT’s entry into China and the 20th edition of NEPCON China.

NEPCON China 2011 is scheduled to take place May 11-13, 2011 at the Shanghai Everbright Convention and Exhibition Center.
