At this year’s Engineering Design Show, taking place 18th to 19th October, Molex (stand K18) will showcase its multi-dimensional approach in meeting the most demanding needs of the design industry. The company will have on display a diverse representation of its products that support a wide-range of applications in a variety of connector sizes and shapes. These products provide design engineers with the ultimate in flexible, scalable solutions that deliver speed and reliability for next-gen system architectures.

At a time when UK industry is voicing doubt about how it is going to source talented future recruits, the education charity EDT has highlighted the best of UK-based young talent at the recently held Future Industry Leaders Awards, sponsored by the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET).

EMO 2017 saw Mitsubishi demonstrating innovative predictive maintenance possibilities for robots that can reduce operational costs, increase asset productivity and improve process efficiency. The cloud-based solution is based on the AI platform within IBM Watson, which enables the smart analysis of operational data to highlight maintenance requirements.

Showcasing its entire range of variable frequency drives, Invertek Drives will also be highlighting the company’s new Industry 4.0 technologies as it returns to SPS IPC Drives in Nuremberg for the ninth time in November. The Welshpool-based company can be found on Stand 349 in Hall 4 at SPS IPC Drives 2017 which this year focuses on digital transformation.

Electromagnetic compatibility company, EMC Standards, is inviting bookings to a one-day training course about maintaining PROFIBUS and PROFINET reliability in modern industrial environments. The event will be held at the offices of Endress + Hauser in Manchester on 22nd November 2017 and is targeted at installers, systems integrators and the wider industrial datacomms community. The training course will be delivered by global EMC expert Keith Armstrong, of EMC Standards, and by PROFIBUS and PROFINET expert Peter Thomas, of Control Specialists.

Mitsubishi Electric is providing a glimpse of the future with human orientated monitoring and training for CNC machines at EMO 2017, using smart devices offering direct integration with machine control systems. Developed as a pilot project with the Fraunhofer Institute for Production Technology IPT, the demonstration on the Mitsubishi Electric stand shows how smart tablets and smart glasses can be used as the user-interface with a CNC controller on a 5-axis CNC machine to support the user on a new digital level.

Designer and manufacturer of innovative respiratory and respiratory protective equipment (RPE), Scott Safety, returns to the A+A trade event in Dusseldorf (17th to 20th October 2017, Dusseldorf, Germany) to showcase their solutions in the areas of construction, silica dust, confined spaces, industrial firefighting and gas detection. (Hall 06, stand G27). A+A is the largest international trade forum for safety, security and health at work.

  Mitsubishi Electric has announced the unveiling of two wire-cutting machines with a new control and simplified operation at EMO 2017. A new option that displays the output of numeric values as easy-to-read graphics - much like in an aircraft’s cockpit - is now available.
