KOLLMORGEN extends its linear motor programme

KOLLMORGEN extends its range of motion control solutions with new direct drives. The ICXH series of maintenance-free iron-core linear motors offer high power density and transmit it without any mechanical components.

With the ICH linear motors, KOLLMORGEN is extending its existing direct drive range. The new units are designed so as to deliver feed forces between 175 and 5341 N in continuous operation (maximum force more than 12,000 N). Their speeds range between less than 1 µm/s and more than 5 m/s with acceleration according to size of between 3 and 10 G. Refinements in design reduce cogging, a natural phenomenon with iron-core linear motors, to a minimum.

It is clear from the characteristic figures that the ICH linear motors are designed for applications requiring a higher output. For this reason, the motor designs are optimised so as to dissipate heat losses from inside them quickly and in addition, insulation is reinforced to handle voltages of up to 700 V DC. To determine polarity, the ICH motors use digital Hall sensors. With this expansion of its drive range, KOLLMORGEN services new applications in the fields of laser and plasma cutting, drilling centres and packaging technology. Linear direct drives are frequently used in these fields as fast and accurate positioning axes.
