The NORD DRIVESYSTEMS' drive solutions provide manufacturers in the plastics-processing industry with long service life, the low maintenance and high energy efficiency. For use in extruders, the company offers extruder-type drives that are optimised for heavy-duty operations.

WEG has launched two extended versions of the CFW500 series of Variable Speed Drives (VSDs). The new models are available with an extended frame size and higher Ingress Protection (IP) rating and have been developed to comply with future energy efficiency regulations from the European Union (EU). The CFW500 frequency inverter series has been produced to efficiency class IE2.

  WEG will exhibit its energy efficient motor and geared motor lines along with its extensive range of automation products, at MACH 2020 in Hall 7, booth 727. The show is held at the National Exhibition Centre (NEC) in Birmingham from 20th-25th April, 2020.

WEG has extended its SSW900 series of soft starters. The series previously consisted of four frame sizes A to D, covering output currents from 10-412A in the voltage range of 220-575V 3-phase AC. Now, WEG has introduced frame size E for the current range of 480-670A. These compact high performance devices with integrated PLC, provide fully programmable algorithms for controlling induction motors, as well as fully flexible torque control and are designed for industrial and commercial use.

JVL A/S, the integrated servo and stepper motor manufacturer, has announced its new HLMT series hollow shaft rotary actuators take a novel approach to decentralised precision positioning tasks on rotary tables and automated machines where a through aperture is required for routing services or maintaining a clear line of site.

Based on this information, concepts for predictive maintenance can also be developed. Fast, efficient and comprehensive evaluation of analogue and digital data (measurements, signals and operating parameters) by the intelligent PLC in the drive electronics forms the basis.

SAKOR Technologies has announced that it recently provided the University of Houston’s Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering with a dynamometer test system designed to test motor and inverter designs for use in hybrid and electric vehicle applications.

At SPS 2019 in Nuremberg, NORD DRIVESYSTEMS presented a new synchronous motor with a significant higher energy efficiency (IE5+). This new motor can be supplied without a fan and with very smooth surfaces. It can be combined with the nsd tupH surface treatment. It is therefore optimally suited for use in intralogistics and wash-down applications.The new IE5+ synchronous motors are suitable for intralogistics and wash-down applications as a system solution with gear units and inverters from NORD DRIVESYSTEMS.

Pressure testing on a new remotely operated vehicle (ROV) has demonstrated that a special version 5.5 kW servo drive from Elmo Motion Control can withstand 700 bar, equivalent to a depth of 7,000 meters. The fly-out ROV built by All Oceans Engineering (AOE) is an auxiliary vehicle which assists larger ROVs with complex tasks on the seabed.

The new motor purge/large enclosure system is the latest member of Pepperl+Fuchs’ Bebco EPS purge and pressurisation family. Pepperl+Fuchs has introduced a Bebco EPS purge and pressurisation system designed specifically for use with large motors or large enclosures in Zone 1 hazardous areas.
