Modular CSW devices boost flexibility

Reducing installation time and costs by up to 66% is the CSW series of command and signalling devices with new pushbuttons and contact blocks from WEG. Designed to increase flexibility and simplify stock management, the individual contact blocks can be easily combined to meet specific requirements and assembled without tools. Additionally, the new pushbuttons have an IP66/NEMA 4X rating, which means they provide a reliable solution in harsh environments.

“The modular CSW series maximises flexibility for machine and plant engineers, meeting their need for cost-effective and convenient solutions with high reliability and long service life,” said Zoltan Schaaf, Manager Low Voltage Switchgear at WEG in Germany.

Schaaf added: “Thanks to our new pushbuttons and contact blocks, together with surface-mount housing and flexible combinations, the CSW series is a great fit for a wide range of industrial applications.”

There are new dual and triple pushbuttons in the range, which combine the functions of two or three individual buttons into one single button of diameter 22.5mm. This reduces installation time significantly, enabling the user to save associated costs. The buttons have a mechanical lifespan of millions of operations, so users can be confident they are reliable over a long service life and machine builders can specify flush or protruding stop buttons to best suit their needs. The advanced sealing system gives the high IP66 ingress protection rating meaning they are dust tight and protected against powerful jets of water, for excellent operation in in outdoor equipment.

The modular contact blocks are click-mounted for fast and easy assembly. Fitting in the surface-mount housing and mating with the panel-front pushbuttons is also toolless. Additionally, silver alloy contacts ensure long service life and high contact sensitivity, with the contact systems designed to be self-cleaning. This means that contact resistance is minimised and contact reliability optimised and even low-voltage and low-current signals (5mA at 17V) can be transmitted reliably. In addition, all normally closed contact blocks fulfil IEC/EN 60947-5-1 functional safety requirements for forcibly guided contacts.
