Young engineers triumph in national engineering challenge final
Showing off their STEM skills, six young engineers have won the Institution of Engineering and Technology’s (IET) national Faraday engineering challenge. Students from Hammersmith Academy in London secured £1,000 for their school after beating four other school teams from across the UKon Wednesday 12th July at the Land Rover BAR base in Portsmouth.

CEO’s and senior leaders from some of the UK’s top engineering companies are joining the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) in calling for urgent action from the top to address the shortage of women in UK engineering, to mark International Women in Engineering Day. Women currently account for only 9% of the UK’s engineering workforce, yet 63% of UK engineering employers do not have gender diversity initiatives in place.

A new photography competition has been launched by The Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), in a bid to challenge misconceptions of engineering and to demonstrate the ingenuity, breadth and vibrancy of the profession. The IET International Engineering Photography Competition is open to any photograph of an engineering-related subject that captures the dynamic, creative and progressive face of engineering and engineers today.
